Why are our players out of shape? What can we do?

Last year we didn’t have that many injuries. More times than none it’s just luck. The deeper a roster is with quality players the better. Being in the best possible shape also helps. But injuries are part of football always has been and always will be. GBO

The conditioning is light years ahead of the Butch Jones years.
Those were lack of strength and conditioning in many cases.
He once bragged at our county athletic banquet about the "elusiveness" of our Olinemen.

Some of it is Strength & Conditioning (Hadden ripped his shoulder trying to be a Tough guy) and some is the Defense having to play 45 out of 60. You can score 50, but you still have to have a TOP balance. Guys get tired, that leads to Injury.

💯......the defense is essentially playing almost 2 games, which increases odds of injury. Also, add to the fact that we went 4 games of only 2 live ball penalties which some rules are to protect the players. When out defense is getting facemasked, choked and whipped on the field like they are in a MMA ring with no ref......that causes increase injury.. i don't know how the players can prepare for all of that.

Based off how quickly we run plays, I would say we are probably top 5 in the country when it comes to conditioning. If u run 15-20mph 3 times in a 90 second span, you're going to be winded. There is no amount of conditioning that will prepare u for that in-game speed. The only way you won't be gassed is if you're not going as hard as u possibly can.

Does anyone watch the Sunday post game show Sports Source? I think its a local show in Knoxville but I watch it on YouTube.
Anyways, Daniel Hood made an interesting comment at the end of segment 3 on our injuries this past weekend after the Vandy game. He said that Duke uses a "catapult" system of tracking players throughout the season and it has made a big difference in injuries and they led the nation in preventing injuries.
Does UT have a system like this? I would think we do but if Duke is doing something that works better why don't we use it also?
