Why are you a Republican?

so without saying it, it's still your assertion that this is all the Bush administration's fault.

that simply isn't true and your only evidence to the contrary is a link to a story about some low level functionary who lost his job. The Bush administration tried several times to increase the regulation on Fannie/Freddie. Obviously they didn't try hard enough, but that's no reason to place blame solely on them.

as for your claim that a house bought 10 years ago isn't upside down, prove it.

The only way those homes are upside down is through cash-out transactions.

I'm saying with better leadership from Congress and the Bush Administration this could have never snowballed into the crisis we have now. Even Bush's own economic advisors have said the same thing, look at the article I've quoted.

Agreed, but what would have happened if the Bush administration tried to tighten up the lending practices started under Clinton and documented in The New York Times. I can hear the headlines and Democratic talking points now:
* George Bush hates the Poor
* George Bush hates Black people
* Geoege Bush believes only Rich should own homes
Etc, etc, etc….

Democrats would have had a field day.

It would be better then what they say about him now.

So Bush should have cleaned up Clinton's mess?

Truth is the current POTUS is always dealing with the issues resulting from the previous administration.

To me, BO's biggest mistake is thinking he can radically fix every problem (real or perceived) at once. Clearly, he'll be leaving a big mess for someone else just as he walked into one.

the military and intel disaster was every bit as epic as this current financial disaster. BHO has plans on surpassing Clinton's military gutting.

edit: lost my mind. Intel replaced the word financial, which made no sense.

Some goon is just going to say "Clinton's mess was spilled milk compared to what Bush left for Obama".

The difference is that BHO thinks bigger government is the answer. Bush did not control spending, but bigger government?

I'm a conservative, not a Rep. but I had to vote for mccain even tho i wasn't really thrilled about him being our candidate to say the least. regardless, i'm for smaller govt even tho W did increase the govt which i don't agree with. also with my moral beliefs i lean hard to the right.

Government expansion has always been a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" topic.

Be rational, as the world gets smaller but bigger on the same token, the government will have to expand to keep the US viable.

way i look at it is that i have nothing to hide, and i have no reason for any law enforcement agency to be looking at me so it doesnt bother me.

would you willingly turn over a dna sample and fingerprints if requested? Would you register every gun with the gov't if they asked? After all, if you have nothing to hide then there is no reason to worry

my fingerprints are already on file as well as my DNA because of my job, all my guns are registered, so why would it bother me?

But the fact remains that they could if they wanted to even without any justifiable cause. Read about the AT&T/NSA mess.

This could be McCarthyism for the Technology Age.

if not required for your job would you give those things up willingly? Do you not view these as extreme measures to "keep us safe". I also take it you don't own a shotgun or hunting rifle

ok,, i forgot about those. is what i am saying, the government has no reason to be coming after me or anything so why should i worry about it? The att and NSA thing was a mess. as long as they are keeping akmed and the band of coward thugs from killing innocent americans domestically i dont care honestly. do i think the government should keep close tabs on everyone and watch out every move no.

I voted for McCain in the last election (the first presidential election I was old enough to vote in), but if the Republicans don't get their act together, I'll be voting Libertarian next time around.

maybe because it's your right? This search for akmed and the band of coward thugs is not enough for me to want to give those up. Just because it's a right you don't use doesn't mean it should be taken away from everyone.
