It's a mystery to me that Vol fans hate Memphis worse than Vandy,I pull for the SEC when TN is not playing. It's hard for me to pull for KY or FLA or etc.. when they are playing someone else because they are our rival. Memphis is in our state just like TN State or MIDDLE TN, but not in the SEC. Why do yall hate MEM so bad?

You can't hate a loser like Vandy. Plus Memphis pretty much isn't even a part in Tennessee. I mean, it is in name, but thats about all.

I'd cheer for Memphis everyday over Vandy.

Why is it pretty much not in Tn. ?

Knoxville's a stones throw away from North Carolina , and by your logic Bristol is totally in Virginia:crazy:

Memphis is just drastically different from East and even middle TN some. The culture, the people, ..etc.

I mean, I don't hate Memphis or anything by any means, but I would probably pull for Vandy over them if it wouldn't affect Tennessee in any way. Me wanting to go to Vandy could also have something to do with that though.

I don't like Memphis because of the players. Players who get into shouting matches with fans like they did at UAB aren't my kind of players. I can at least respect Vanderbilt for its academics and the people of Nashville are a little more tolerable than those in Memphis.

Good comparison.

Good luck, you do have to be smarter to get in Vandy.

One word. Envy.

You mean other than being a school inhabited by insufferable douchebags with unwarranted senses of entitlement?

Bravo and I agree whole heartedly. While I don't particularly care for Vols, I despise schools and fans of schools like Vandy and Mississippi who have this overblown opinions of themselves and their school.

First of all, those UAB fans stormed the court after a Tiger win. Second, they threw debris at them. It was a scene ala Ron Artest in Detroit that was instigated by the fans.

Check out the interviews from last years Final Four when the Memphis players were described as well spoken and engaging by the media. This after all the "preconceived" notions that they were thugs.

Of the last 22 4 year players that have come through the Memphis program, 19 have degrees. The 3 seniors who are the winningest college players of all time will graduate in May.

I never used the word "thug". I think every program has some thugs on the team. However, players at big-time schools have to have restraint, no matter the situation. Let the police handle the idiots who are throwing things, don't go try to start a brawl.

I'm glad those guys got their degrees, good for them. Never said the players that come through that program are stupid either. Those preconceived notions shouldn't put words into my mouth. I still stand by my point that the city of Nashville is much more tolerable than that of Memphis, and that is largely due to the people that live there.
