Why do Vol fans dislike MEM more than Vandy?

Since this is BB season, thought we were discussing BB. You cannot honestly say that UT fans do not envy the success of Tiger basketball.

Tigers going to the Sweet 16 in a rebuilding year = Vol's banner season.

As far as academics, football, alumni/student support, UT is what Memphis aspires to be.

Are you joking? There are so many schools I'd be jealous of before Memphis when it cones to basketball, it's not even funny.

You mean other than being a school inhabited by insufferable douchebags with unwarranted senses of entitlement?

It's a pretty big assujption that the entitlement projected by the douchebags is unwarranted.

Those pricks are, after all, a lot of your future doctors, lawyers, and bosses :)

I had no problem with Memphis. However, after the behavior of their fans after we beat them last year, I'm not a huge fan of their fanbase.

Memphis fans have a lot to be proud of starting with the BB team. I also had an opportunity to attend a UT/Memphis football game. The fans were very supportive of their team and good sports. I had a great time with a few of them. In addition, the dance team was second to none.

With that said, the OP painted with a much broader stroke. He did not mention BB nor is this posted in a BB forum. He was clearly implying a more general standard; a standard with no basis in fact. However after reading a few more of his post it became obvious that he is a juvenile and a Memphis fan (perhaps he is a Memphis BB fan and UT football fan). I any event, he feels the need to try and build himself up by tearing another program down.

And fail to reach championship games
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Nobody says much about this do they,I love the VOLS.:)

2 championship games in 36 years does not a dynasty make. Besides, UT has the same number of BB NC's as Memphis (0)

Spoken truefully! I agree I wish we could advance in the the NCAA's:)

Congratulations, I did not realize that the NCAA has started giving out participation trophies. How does that work, the further you advance the bigger the trophy?

Not a dynasty. Just one of the Top 15 programs during that time. By the numbers of 36 years you use, Tigers go to Sweet 16 every 4 years, Elite 8 every 6 years, and Final Four every 12 years. Solid stats for a BCS conference school. INcredible for a non-BCS school.

No trophies but it's called recognition as an upper echelon program.

Winning a NC is tough to do for any program. The blue bloods have a tough time winning a NC. Been 13 years for UCLA, 8 years for Duke, 10 years for KU, 21 years for Indiana. KU had a 20 year gap between NC.

If making the Final Four every 10-12 years is so easy and meaningless, how come the Vols, PItt, Missouri, Clemson, etc. have failed to do it once in the same 36 years? What kind of celebration would occur if one of those schools ever actually made a Final Four?

No ,you get in and go farther than you have before in our case,That's the goal, baby steps in basketball, let's get to a sweet 16 then an elite 8. That would be nice! I'm sure most fans on here would like to be in that 8 for a change. By the way you are the troll calling me a troll, you know nothing about me unless you have read my threads, in that case you would be commenting on the subject, not the person,so I will tell you this. I am a VOLUNTEER!:hi:

You make good points, but I don't know about all that CALISKING stuff. I bleed ORANGE, not blue, but I do like the tigers because they are right down the road from me,and I was pulling for them because they are in the great state of TENNESSEE> EASY.:hi:

I have been reading what your post; have you? When refering to UT you say, "they" then catch your slip and start using "we". When you refer to Memphis you say "our"

I wish TN could say they have been to 4 SWEET 16's in a row,.....

You also had this gem.

I love TN, but they do have to wear that pretty orange on Sunday picking up trash after a beat down of their girlfriend on Saturday night sometimes. lol:)

I also use facts:
* Memphis 2 championship games in 36 years
* 0 NC's (same at UT)

Congratulations on going further in the tournament but participation trophies are hollow victories.

I'll admit that regional titles are a BFD.

1. You're absolutly right

2. Mills was raised in WEST TN . He also grew up in an era when Tn. BB sucked and Mem was fairly good. He is a TN fan until the orange team losees . He then falls back to his roots in which he pulls for the university that has done well closest to his home .

Bash him if you want , but I actually know he's a good guy who pulls for UT until their gone , then same as everyone else he pulls for a team he likes , no difference than everyone on here that's pulling for any certain team to win the NC .

He's out there and loving every minute of it Jerry .
