Why does it feel like everyone has written us off?

Seriously, in every news source I see, nobody is talking about the Vols even having a shot at the SEC of the CFP. I recognize that the one loss to Florida hurts us, but there are teams with bad losses still being talked about. Just feels like everyone has written us off.

I still believe we have a solid chance to run the table, win the east and who knows what else?

Georgia is very beatable, as is Bama. Our defense has allowed the fewest touchdowns in the SEC and have lived in the backfield of the opposing teams.

We just need Joe and the receivers to start clicking. If that happens, we absolutely can win out.

Why are we not getting talked about?

I think the reason is the Florida loss and the fact that we don't look like last year's team. Everyone got used to seeing our high-flying offense that put up big numbers. This year, we're getting it done with our running game and improved defense. If we could make some improvement in the passing game, we could easily make some noise in the CFP picture.

Because so far there is no indication that Joe and the receivers will start clicking. If anything the passing game looks to be regressing. Especially with the loss of Bru.

Probably a few reasons. The Florida loss is one for sure, tougher back half of the schedule. Also, I think a lot of people are in the mindset of our “system” should look like it did last year. This years team isn’t going to win looking like the offense did last year, do they need to be better, sure. However, this year’s team wins with defense and a running game and not sure some can or want to see that.

I hear this a lot, that people can't understand that we are not a passing team.

I don't care how we win but that we win. If we won every game by 1pt then we would be national champions.

Maybe the massive difference in scoring from last year to this year makes people uncomfortable?

I don't care what the media thinks anymore, especially those guys on College GameDay. In fact, I WANT them down on us so the team can prove them wrong. This isn't like Georgia where somehow Kirby managed to convince his team that everyone thought they sucked the past couple years. The media really thinks that with our team, or appears to so it's much easier for Heupel right now to use it to fire them up (if that's even a thing).

Because our QB can't sling it like Hooker and our WR's can't catch it like Hyatt...if we had last year's passing game with this year's D and running game we'd be odds on favorites to win it all!

This and the coming schedule I’d imagine is the factor which causes the doubt. Playing at Bama, Kentucky, and Missouri not to mention Georgia at home will be most challenging for sure.

It's because the FL loss was so bad. (I'm still pissed about it).

I agree we can beat anybody. But also feel like we could lose to anybody. We need more consistency in the passing game.

But, but the UT offense is just a gimmicky spread offense that doesn’t produce high quality pro players - it’s all passing trickery that won’t last long in the SEC because every Defensive Coordinator already has it figured out. And UT has no defense, so there’s no chance they can be anything but a gimmick team, etc. etc. Oh wait. GBO

BC Milton and the offense have looked mediocre at best. We’ve won some but won ugly. If Milton can somehow get in this team can make a push.

Them? Milton (or the lack of explosive offense se compared to last year)

Us? What are you talking about?

This weekend will tell us all we need to know about the Vols and our season hopes.
All the talking heads said this last week as well. The difference is it is a road game. We need to learn to win on the road. The only notable road win I recall was LSU last year.
