Why does skylar mcbee play

C'mon, he's a walk on, loves being a Tennessee Volunteer, and his attitude and work ethic is appreciated in this day of "look at me... wheres my money..." He is not expected to carry the team, and does fairly well in the role he is expected to fill. Give him a break. Its one thing to bash the star quaterback, even the million dollar making coach, but we are now picking at a walk-on, who gives his all 100% of the time? Really.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure he got a scholarship

You all need to give it a break. We do not have that many guards and I like Cam and McBee for their hustle. Support the team-negativity goes nowhere.

Wasting your time. They get great joy in degrading our on players. Real sad.

Lol at the people on here that constantly cry and complain about the team, everyday all the time. Keep typing away, your jumpshot is starting to look better...

I can kind of understand the skylar hate but come on, hes hit quite a few shots lately. But the steven pearl hate is what puzzles me. He constantly disrupts on defense. Passes the ball well on offense and even finishes on occasion. It doesn't matter who is more talented. What matters is production. When Jeronne Maymon and Jordan Mcrae got in the did wild and crazy stuff that killed us. When kenny Hall and Ronaldo Woolridge got in, they did nothing. Just stand there. Id rather have pearl out there than any of them.

remember the Vandy game, Skylar was a spark off the bench with 2 big 3's that lead to a 17 point come back and a much needed SEC win. he does this occasionally that is why he plays

You must not have seen Tyler Summitt play against LSU. Pathetic

Tyler will be the first one to say he's not a player but a coach. The guy wasn't blessed with athletic ability but will probably be a damn good coach one day.

Steven Pearl also works the refs better than Tony Jones.

This is freaking stupid. Shut the hell up. Mcbee is out there because the coaches put him out there. Get. Over. It.

McBee had a really nice pair of games against Vandy and Georgia. Maybe he's finally putting it together and becoming an 8-10 minute contributor.

He was able to do what Scotty or Cam couldn't on a fast break, and thats give a timely pass for an assist on a fast break, to Pearl at that. And I am pretty sure he guarded Warren tonight on quite a few possessions and Warren only went around him and scored once. Warren tried multiple times to take him. Fish out of water I don't think is accurate. Granted he does have trouble shooting 3's over defenders, but him taking open 3's is good offense for us.

I'm convinced that Pearl is a better player than McBee. I really don't like McBee, but you have to admit that he's been playing better lately. HOWEVER, I don't think he deserves the amount of minutes he's getting and he doesn't need to be on the floor 85% of the time that he is....So it's a bad balance, imo, jmo.

Mcbee by senior year will be a great shooter. Mark my words.

So if he hits 2 threes in one game out of every 14 games he's good to go and totally worthy of getting minutes. He honestly is the worst "3-point specialist" I've ever seen in my life - it's comical he's labeled a shooter.

Marked. . . cuz right now he is under 30% on the year from the three point line.

I'm not hating on Pearl. . . I'm not sure who started that on this thread. I dont like when he is on the floor but he at least contributes.

And I'm not complaining about the team to be complaining. I love this team, I just think it would be better suited to give Bone or Golden more minutes or even McRae more minutes instead of McBee. Granted McRae is suspended right now but still, Bone or Golden would have more of an impact IMHO. . . Just saying, I am baffled at the continued minutes he gets.

Wrong. Why are you making up stats as facts to support your argument? He is well over 30%

Actually he's sitting at 33% with 14-42 shooting from the 3 point land. The only 2 guys on the team with a better 3 point Percentage are Hopson (37%) and Goins (40%). Tatum is also sitting at 33%.

Honestly I hadnt actually looked in a while. I did right after the Florida game I think and he was just under 30% . . . Other then the Vandy game all I remembered were bricks, so I just assumed he hadn't gotten over that. Guess the old saying holds.

And that's why you aren't paid to coach the orange.

pretty sure that my opinion, which is pretty much fact in this situation, has very ittle to nothing to do with why I'm not coaching our basketball team.

He's a bad basketball player for this level of competition he's playing in, if you can't see that youre blind, biased, or (insert random adjective here). A shooter that can't shoot and plays bad defense - just what we need right?

McBee is fine to spark the offense and come in for certain situations. I have 0 problem with this kid, he plays extremely hard. I think he should play a lot more in the final minutes of games when we have a comfortable lead (over 3-4 possessions) because he is an amazing free throw shooter.

On the other hand, I think Hall deserves a few more minutes, especially since he will more than likely be starting next year. He played determined and well against LSU in the limited minutes he had. If he made the layup he missed against Ole Miss he would probably continue to see the floor more. Hall is a GREAT defender and rebounder in the post. He moves his feet very well for a big man and remember how great he guarded Cole Alrich last year. His offensive moves have improved as well. I think he needs at least 5-10 minutes a game, especially towards the end of the first half to keep B. Williams and J. Field out of foul trouble.
