He seemed to be respected until he came to ut. Was it a bad match? Did he not have the support? Or did he just plain suck a@#?

Respected or liked?

If you're referring to comments made by guys like Saban, they're friends; it's not like he was going to trash his friend in public. Way too many people bought into that.

The guy had one good season at La. Tech and an overall record of 17-20. Do the math.

He didn't win enough games and showed no improvement after 3 years. It seemed like he failed to get buy in from both his players and his staff.

The future did not look bright. End of story.

Saban is smart. Of course he recommended Dooley to be the HBC of his employer's arch rival. I bet CBJ would recommend Lane Kiffin for the Florida job too!

couldn't hold on to coaches, which meant he couldn't build a team at the staff level and that translated to the players.

Let me put it this way, I am hanging on to Fulmer more then Dooley...I barely remember Dooley.

he was cut off at the knees by Hart,Hart wouldn't extend the contracts for Wilcox and company and surprise another Bammer came along, cozy huh ? with a good contract if i remember correctly?I do assume Sal didn't get the one year contract deal either?

if Dooley would of had Wilcoxs defense,It might have worked out a lot better or maybe not,but the deck would have been stacked better, wasn't Wilcoxs D ranked in the mid 20s ?

He spent more time on shower etiquette than figuring out how to keep opponents out of the end zone.
