I like the Washington Redskins. I was really depressed when my other two favorite teams, The Harlem Darkies and the Arkansas Crackers, had to change their names.

It's almost like rooting for a different team.

The Seminole tribe has not only given their blessing to FSU, they take part in making sure the portrayal is accurate. Calling someone a Seminole is like calling them an American. Redskin OTOH is a slur.

Braves, Indians, and Chiefs are generic names and titles not insults. The problems they can run into is more in stereotyped/insulting and/or racist depictions of mascots.

The racism is in the slang term "redskin". Very akin to "boogie man" "beaner" or "slant" if I can compare. Not real friendly terms to use.

You are correct. Not the players issue. It's the front office and owners that are a bunch of racist pigs. And the fans that support their continued racist ways.

The Indians that started this redskins stuff, all their reservation school teams are named redskins. So how is it racist if washington uses the name? I don't care either way. Just wondering.
