Why is Chris Lofton not in the NBA?

Lofton can shoot and that's it. He is not tall enough or quick enough defensively. He also is not a great ball handler.

I think y'all are overthinking the jump to the next level and overanalyzing the value of individual defense in the NBA. Steve Kerr seemed to do alright. I have found highlights of Lofton in the Spanish league. He has scored 25 and 23 in Spain's best league last two games. The guy is one of the sickest shooters of all time. The argument "well everyone is a great shooter in the NBA" does not fly with me. Everyone is not as good as Chris Lofton. Far from it. He made 15 threes in the Orlando summer league. Lofton can and will play in the NBA. you aren't as much of a defensive liability when you can drain threes constantly in people's faces. See Kevin Durant. And you Vol fans know all of this. Lofton never got enough credit for his defense and athletic ability. people always want to sell the guy short. it sickens me

Ummm. Kevin Durant is 6'8-6'10, can shoot from the outside, score inside, handle the ball, and GET HIS OWN SHOT.

Since the Spanish league and the Orlando summer league are really the same as the NBA...

I think the world of Lofton. That said, he'd be little more than a glorified Steven Pearl on an NBA roster.

Defense in the NBA is about individual matchups. You cannot afford to play helpside defense due the fact that basically everyone can knock down an open jumper. Therefore you see open driving lanes and flashy dunks. That basically sums up why Lofton is not a great NBA prospect. He would be exposed on the defensive end of the court, and/or his big man would constantly be in foul trouble. Also, as I said everyone can shoot the open jumper in the NBA, so he wouldn't really stand out from that standpoint like he did in college. That being said, I have immense respect for C-LO, my favorite Vol ever, in any sport!
