Why is everyone on the QB for the issues?

Joe hasn’t been perfect, but Mahomes couldn’t make plays with this pass protection. O-line is swiss cheese right now. All the quick screens isn’t a lack of faith in Joe. It’s a lack of faith in the O-line to protect long enough for big plays to develop. Look what Joe did last year when our line play was better…

Youbhave some Cornbread recruits that haven't gotten any better in the 3-4 years on the team. Ellerbe can only do so much, but the freshmen just aren't ready for the SEC, it is what it is.

Tennessee has a lot of issues to deal with. It's certainly not all on Milton. However, much of Tennessee's passing game is predicated on forcing safeties to play closer to the line of scrimmage. Since Milton isn't a threat to run, defenses can play their safeties deep on us. I think this is why we are seeing so many bubble screens and short passes ... Heupel is desperately trying to draw the safeties up. He isn't getting much help, but it also looks like Milton just isn't a good fit for this scheme.
Too slow upstairs for this scheme. Also unwilling to run when he's got some green in front of him. That would loosen up the coverage he's seeing and back those linebackers off some.

OL got blown out of the stadium. How many effing holding calls and false starts were there? We couldnt establish the run game because it was 2nd or 3rd and long so many times. Then Joe misses a pass and everyone blames him. Its the damn OL and defense with no pressure. Fix that now and stop worrying about who the QB is. Nico cant fix these issues. A bad OL poisons the whole team.

Milton took over after Hooker got hurt. He beat Clemson in a tough bowl matchup. Arguably Hinton should have been in the Heisman argument before the gamecocks. With enough couching, and the defense getting straight, the Vols could be in the playoff fight with a few good wins!

We basically have the same Offensive line that we have had when our Offensive has dominated the last few years. Hinton did it why not Milton. Defense fixes a couple of things and we are in it. Its just one game.

I believe if the Florida game were called fairly we would be rolling right now. Holding no calls, defensive Holding no calls.
Give Milton a chance. It is just one game.

I saw a defense that would NOT get off the field and gave up 8 minute drives that kept our offense from even being on the field. The defense was the primary weakness in Gainesville and needs to be fixed. It looked worse than last year (notably against the run).
For me it’s not managing the clock at all, not ready for crowd noise, poor decisions under pressure, dude is massive and refuses to run or lean forward for 3&4 yard gains. The only time he has is against VA the first game. The offense just reminds me of the struggling O we had before hooker took over. I think milton has worked hard to be better but to me if we are going to struggle let’s rotate QBs and go with the hot hand.

Most fans don’t understand football. So they blame the QB and playcalling. They’re easy to spot.

We missed the hurt LB more than people realize

Yep. He seems to be more interested in making the highlight reels with a heavy hit than he is interested in playing fundamentally sound football. Joke's on him, though...he sure did make some highlight reels.

Milton has had multiple chances to hone his game, both here and at Michigan. He has failed multiple times to show he can live up to his potential. I guess we are expecting Milton to play as well as Hooker, but it appears that is never going to happen.

True but we were already in a 2 TD hole before the INT was thrown.

Also the FALSE STARTS really didn't help the situation.

Perhaps a QB change may improve some items but the defense was the real culprit that cost Tennessee the game. They gave up a lot of easy, early runs by Florida. I don't even think it was totally on the defenders, I think it was poor play calling on defense that cost us. We didn't have players in the right spots or lined up properly when Florida was hiking the ball.

Our Offensive line kept digging Milton and offense into holes with false starts and poor blocking. Milton isn't Hooker, I get that. However, Milton isn't the only problem nor is he the MOST GLARING problem.

If I had anything that I could pick to change, it would be our defense right now.

The most glaring alarm behind all of these errors on offense and defense was that the team wasn't coached properly for the noise. This happened last year in Athens as well.
We were not in a "two TD hole" it was only 13-7, that play was huge. Also Keaton was wide open, about as open as you can get. Likely would have been nullified by a penalty though.

Having said that, Milton was hit as he threw, which is not all on him. Maybe he could have taken the sack, IDK, but like I said Keaton was WIIIIDDDDEE open.

Definitely not all on Milton, but he certainly could have done better with decision making and managing the clock, and a few times had his typical touch issues.

I think bigger issues were we were missing two starters on OL and defense stunk it up in first half.
