Helen was much closer to the terrorists than we ever thought, no one had ever thought of it before but a genealogist did a quick search and found that Thomas was in reality Yasser Arafat's grandmother.

Did you hear about the gold prospector who died and went to heaven??

He showed up at the Pearly Gates with his little burro and greeted St Peter; "High Pete, I been looking forward to meeting you for a long time now."

Saint Peter replied that he was glad to see him too but he couldn't come in, the poor prospector would have to go to hell.

"Bu....bu.. but Pete, I read my Bible every day and pray morning noon and night, why can't I come in?"

"Well it's like this, God didn't figure on so many people wanting to come to Heaven and things started getting a little crowded and so we went on a quota system and we don't have any more room for gold prospectors."

"Pete, how about if I can get a gold prospector to leave, could I come in then?"

"Well, yeah I could do that but I doubt you're going to get anyone to leave."

The old prospector reared back, cupped his hands and yelled; "There's a gold strike in hell!!"

In a couple of minutes two grizzled old coots with floppy worn out hats came running by with their burros, all loaded with clanging pots and pans, picks and shovels making an ungodly noise, rushing off toward hell.

The old feller standing by the pearly gates turned and started to lead his burro off in the same direction.

St Peter said; "Hold on now, you don't have to go, I now have two slots open in your category, come on in."

The old gold prospector turned as replied; "I know it's just a rumor Pete, but there might be something to it."

You do have to admit she could be Yasser's mother at least, after all Muhammed took one of his wives when she was only nine.

I am just surprised you didn't take an angle on the fact that her parents were Lebanese immigrants of Syrian descent. I think that is likely the source towards her bias against Israel.

certainly explains her bias, but considering all the time she spent in America, it doesn't explain her historical ignorance. The Jewish claim to that land predates the founding of Islam by at least 1000 years.

Are you saying we should all have to give up our land to Native Americans, since their claim to the land predates the arrival of our ancestors by 10,000 years?

Land claims have a shelf life. What's the old saying? "Possession is 9/10's of the law" or something? This is true for the Canaanites, the Israelites, the Philistines, the Babylonians, the Assyrians, the Romans, the Arab tribes that would be become the Palestinians, and now Israel again. "Claims" themselves have little meaning, for that stretch of land in particular apparently.

To say the descendants of the Israelites have more claim to the land than anyone else is letting Sunday School supplant reason. Besides, Ishmael was Isaac's son, too.

And the Jewish State was gone over a thousand years... I am not going to get rid of my place of residence if a Cherokee walks up and said that it used to be his ancestors. I'd chuckle at the thought. That was just two hundred years ago.

Israel's modern borders represent a very small fraction of the total amount of land considered "Palestine". If you're going to say the Palestinians should be able to reclaim that territory, you should also concede the Palestinians are also due the territory comprised by Jordan and Syria.

No. I'm saying we have to deal with the time and condition we are in: There is an Israel. It shouldn't go anywhere. Just don't pretend they are magical or special somehow.

Not sure how you got anything different.

There is no magic answer as to what should happen with Palestine, but a two State solution seems possible. It can only happen with concessions and help from Israel, Egypt, and Jordan.

Not very many until The Palestinian Authority is not a terrorist group. Once that changes, a strict stance on terror as well as immediate work done to economically build up the Gaza Strip and improve the quality of life for Palestinians, which will mean in the medium and long term less disgruntled people with nothing better to do than blow themselves up.
