Why is offense so bad?

The downer to me is....Our saving grace hang our hats on defense took a huge step back tonight. Our game plan tonight was DII level.

Why is the offense bad? Ok let’s look at it

Nico just in the SEC:
Passing yards- 6th
Passing TDs- 9th

That’s a huge reason. Nico likely will end the season likely below 20 passing TDs and 2500 yards passing.

Our WR just in the SEC:
Receiving yards: Thorton (16th), Bru 30th, Squirrell 39th and Braz 50th).

Receiving TDs: Thorton (12th, Braz 33rd, White 59th and Bru 118th).

This should give you a grand overview as to why this offense isn’t any good.

Lack of a real downfield threat to take the top off a defense hurt this year. Probably going on a portal hunt for more speed at receiver. Bru tries hard but it’s obvious he’s not the same guy he was before the injury

The offense isn't as bad as fan perception. Vol fans compare the offense to a really high standard based on previous offensive success under Heupel.

But defensive coordinators have caught on, so we aren't getting behind DBs as much. Also, the playclock runs differently.

We are still running the ball efficiently. Nico is still growing into himself and his potential. I also think we turned the ball over too much the last few weeks at home along with offensive penalties that have hampered the offense. We need to play cleaner. I think we did at times tonight. Just hard to be super effective on the road.

Nico isn’t that good right now. He hasn’t really been good all year. He will get better.
