why is performance in cfb not an indecator of how you do in nfl?

I also believe it had a lot to do with people not getting the albatross that is Arian Foster. He is an unusual dude and not everybody understood him. Seriously, who else in the NFL is a vegan?

So when NFL people talked to our coaches and the people around the program, they may not have been able to talk about him the way they would other guys. This is going to hurt the draft stock a mid round guy whose tangibles are good but not special.

Foster isn't a vegan anymore.

to the OP's question, it's a different game on a different level, simple as that. A lot of it has to do with luck as well, as to where drafted, scheme, etc, but it's the same as the nba. Guys average 25 points in college and can't make an nba squad, and guys averaging single digits in college become nba veterans.

Makes sense. It's always amazing seeing the kids who light it up in college can't make a squad! It's like for real?

It's not surprising to see college stars suffer.

Different games. You can't excel on talent alone in the NFL. You have to be able to read offense/defense, know the playbook, and perform.

Tim Tebow for example. Outstanding college players. Arguably best ever. But only Florida homers thought he'd succeed in the NFL as a qb. His passing skills in college weren't NFL quality.

look at arian foster who sucked in cfb but is the best back in the nfl. look at tebow who was the best player ever now he can barely make a team. or tom brady, brett farve, victor cruz, etc. rarely do you see stars like eli and peyton or charles woodson shine in cfb and the nfl. somebody please explain this to me.

First off Foster was a really good back at Tennessee, unfortunately he had some fumbles at crucial times during some games and that's all some fans remember him for.

Brett Favre was a really good QB at Southern Miss. and actually beat a top 5 team in FSU at Doak Walker Stadium.

There are plenty of players who can't adjust to the speed and complexity of the game at the pro level (mostly QB's). There are also plenty of players who shine in college and also in the NFL (Randy Moss, Adrian Peterson, Charles Woodson, Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, etc etc.)

You also have to remember, about 10% of the players these guys face in college will make it on an NFL roster (the number is probably smaller than 10%). Obviously when you go to the NFL, everyone was "The Man" when they played college so it's a very tough transition.

The NFL is a lot faster than college. That's one reason.

Another, IMO, has to do with systems in college. Some are better suited to specific players whereas in the pros the systems are pretty much the same.

If you watch Foster now vs when he was at UT you'll see he hits the holes a lot better. He ran side to side a lot at UT. He doesn't do that now.

Yes. Straight to the sidelines.
