Why Isn't UT On Clowney's List?

Yeah, its not like were rebuilding or anything.

We were rebuilding last year as well, we didn't seem to have much trouble with elite prospects then. Notre Dame is rebuilding, as was AU last year, ask them about elite prospects.

Alabama signed the #1 class in a year when they lost to Louisiana-Monroe.

UT has evaluated Clowney and they are not interested. Not the other way around.

If UT was interested he would have committed already.

Yeah, because if the staff was interested, we'd probably be at the top of his list. This staff is dynamite with the elite players, oh wait...

I'm no Dooley apologist. But it seems to me like gambling on guys we are behind on recruiting and praying they change thier mind vs going after solid but not spectacular players who are more than happy to fill in our MANY holes seems logical at this point. We can't afford to take many shots at guys we are WAY behind on in the recruiting game.

Fair enough.

The sad thing is, you actually believe that. Your posts are among the most comical I've ever read here. From saying Jim Calhoun passed on the Tennessee football job to saying Dooley could outdo General Neyland, you are endless entertainment.

Ignoring that statement...

He'd start for UT on day 1.

UT produced 2 of the best DEs in history. Reggie and Doug Atkins.

UT produced the highest paid defensive player in the NFL right not -- AlbertH.

Eric Berry played every game for 3 years and got a $60mm NFL contract as a 21-yo Jr.

And Justin Worley smoked Clowney's team in the season opener.

It UT that much chopped liver these days?[/QUOTE]

Doug Atkins and Reggie (unfortunately) don't carry much weight with recruits nowadays or for the past decade really. Several decades in Atkins case.

Albert is the highest paid, but he is also the most overrated defensive player in the NFL.

This kid is supposed to be something special and every program in the country is offering him playing time from day one. Given UT's lack of performance on the field, it's hard to make that a selling point. And it isn't every recruits dream to get on the field from day one.

solid post.

gambling on highly rated players too late in the process was one of the biggest problems for Fulmer & Co.

Dooley & Co need a class full of guys that will work hard & contribute for 4 years. no room for misses this class

wasn't bryce brown "the best running back out of high school since reggie bush?"

I guess you're right if you only go by Rivals rankings from 2009.

Trent Richardson was rated lower than Brown by Rivals in 2009. Richardson is in a completely different league than Brown - he is a game breaker.

Bryce never showed that ability while in Orange.

And now he's not in Orange anymore so who cares that he was ever here in the first place.

You and I both know this isn't true. Assuming you keep up with recruiting.

Its been clear since early on last year that he wanted to be close to home for his father (who is in the process of repairing a relationship with his son). But still seriously considers Alabama because they're Alabama and he likes the coaches at UA.
