I find it funny that so many people are picking LSU to win the SEC, Les had one foot out the door. Have they upgraded at any coaching position and if not they will never out coach Alabama. I may be somewhat biased, but Tennessee has a better chance to win the SEC and honestly believe Shoop is one of the top coordinators in the country!
Is that a recipe to beat Alabama? How many yards did Fournette rush for last year against them, they go get a good DC and leave an offense alone that fits perfectly into bamas scheme, and now talking heads feel they will win with the same philosophy. Sounds about right
It blows my mind that people are doubting Tennessee because of the passing game... Yet are putting LSU at #5 and winning the conference. Retarded to me.
Ala stacked the box again them last year and Fournette didn't have a chance..If Harris elevates his game then they are as good as anybody..and this Ala team lost a lot of production from last year..yes they reload but they won't be as good as they were last year..This won't be the dominant Ala team Saban typically throws out there..they have question marks all over the place not to mention losing a lot of coach's..Not sure why Saban hired Jeremy Pruitt but we have faired well against his defense's.
I'm glad you like Bammer...but it was one game, against the best defense in CFB, who had 1 mission...stop Fournette.
Outside of that, his totals were:
159 yds
228
244
233
158
180
150
91
108
159
212
The bold plus his 31 against Bama were LSU's three losses. He was held below 5 yards per carry in all three. Fournette is awesome, but he's not good enough to get past a team with a stout defense that has no reason to respect the pass. No one is.

This might honestly be the most talented defense Saban has had. And that's not hyperbole. We return 13 of 19 interceptions; 41 of 52 sacks. I don't make hard and fast predictions before the season, but the potential is there for an absolutely dominating defense.
As far as Pruitt, our best secondaries came with him as DBs coach. With Smart gone, there is no one who knows the system better than Pruitt. It's Saban's defense, so it's not like we're changing schemes.
LSU has Fournette. If for any reason he goes down with an injury that sidelines him for multiple games, LSU is done. But if he is healthy all year LSU is the team to beat in the west.
Bama gets the nod simply because they have earned it with wins on the field (five in a row vs LSU, never mind all the NC titles), but LSU could ride a healthy Fournette all the way.

I like Ole Miss in the West. They own Bama. Bama's defense is over rated. Good defenses don't give up 500 yards to anybody. Clemson ate that bunch up last year. Bama's defense is not going to be any better than it was last year. Alabama is going to look a lot like LSU this year since they don't have a QB. Ole Miss and Tennessee will be beat bama rather easily this year.
