Why LSU

Anthony Jennings was a really highly recruited guy - 6th ranked dual-threat QB and had offers from Alabama and a few other SEC schools. Just another guy they couldn't quite get firing on all cylinders. Also remember Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee?

The only common denominator with their QB struggles has been Les. Is it a coincidence that his most successful QBs (Flynn and Mettenberger) were recruited and partially developed by coaching staffs other than his (Saban and Richt respectively)? It could be, but probably not. Cam Cameron was hailed as a genius and great hire by Les after that 2013 season when Mettenberger came in and put up some pretty impressive passing numbers. Not quite sure what has happened after that.

Jefferson and Lee were Crowton guys.... Crowton taught them nothing. Lee could have been a very good QB under the right coach.

Jennings is not SEC talent, I don't care what kind of star he was.

Harris and Lee could be or could have been good QBs. Other than the first half of the Bama game Lee actually had almost a perfect senior year. imo Almost mistake free, but Bama got him in the 1st quarter there.

My take is it hasn't been one thing.. but yes, I agree its on Les at this point... there was no excuse for Saturday, none, zip, nada.

I don't think it will get that bad, but you never know, if the D improves slightly its still a tough team in many ways.

I think its a little too early to tell how good the D can be, I thought they looked very hesitant in the first half but started coming on as the game progressed, although I think they gave up more points in the second half.

Fournette deserves a freaking purple heart, to me his best game ever... not because of highlight runs...... there was nowhere to run and he still racked up 100+ yards.

The fans are already for a change now though, the problem is the contract.

LSU plays Jacksonville St. on September 10. How do you think the game will go? I think LSU wins 35-6.

I don't think anyone is taking this one as a gimme at this point.... this could turn into a rough season based on what I saw.

I thought the D started playing better throughout the game, LBs are getting burned but other than that... I think there is probably a good reason to think they will improve through the year.

Offense and special teams are regressing.

It's going to be interesting to see what LSU does, if it gets ugly.... still alot of bones to pay Les. Wisconsin did LSU a favor.

Miles did the unthinkable. He was given the ultimate warning in December and had an entire offseason to scheme a multiple-offense that simply presented the opponent a balanced offense. If you want to open it up, spread it out. It's not talent, it schematics. Give your talent an opportunity to work in space.

So Les survives this near-death experience over the winter and walks into Lambeau Field in the same pro style, 2 receiver, I formation dives and tosses into an 8 man front. Les Miles needs to be entered in some sort of facility for concussion protocol for extensive observation. Truly the "Mad Hatter."

At this point, not sure anything would surprise me.

I think the rest of this season is about the next guy, and getting the D up to speed.

Herman and Aranda sounds nice, give Aranda time to stabilize the D this year. The thing is though... to me this was the window year.

I like Les, I think he is a good guy and to be honest he has been a great HC, but the ship seemed like it sailed on the fans buying into it.... I am not sure less then a run the tables situation really saves him from the fans.

He still has a $10+m buyout, so not sure the school pulls the trigger, but the fans have a way of forcing these issues... Cam is gone and it doesn't really matter what happens... he'll be lucky to make it to November.

Aranda looks like the really deal... well short of an A for the defense but they did a good enough job considering LSU is on their thrid DC in 20 months.

See how the defense does the rest of the year, but Cam is gone and Les is on borrowed time.

Looks like they redeemed themselves a bit this week. Changed QBs.

It was freaking ugly until they got Etling in there, very ugly, 12 yards total offense. JSU was playing 8+ in the box.... Etling came in and hit a few passes, what do you know Guice has room to run. Then Les decides he is going to call plays in the 2nd half and goes back to I-formations.... :banghead2:

Etling did well although the stats might not reflect it... he did have an int and a fumble, the int was okay in my book. His arm isn't the strongest but the offense immediately responded to his play, they scored on 3 straight possessions when he came in and 200 yards in the quarter.

I am not sure LSU wins that game if he hadn't had come in. He's not going to be the best QB in the world but it was refreshing to see someone that could move around the pocket and dump things down and move the ball... hopefully that continues.

At this point, I think nearly everyone wants Les gone.
