I know the odds are small.
I know that y'all would prefer a better/warmer bowl.
I know TX would probably get smoked.
HOWEVER, I'd get to go on a road trip back home to Dallas with about 15 of my best Vol-friends.

The first Bowl game that I ever went to was the 1990 Cotton Bowl when I was still in high school. TN beat Arky. I can't imagine a more awesome experience than getting together with a group of my friends and family; 50-50 split between the UT's.

Nevertheless, good luck in whatever bowl game y'all end up in. ===Horn in Knoxville

I'd love to see it as well. I wouldn't think Texas would get smoked. Good running back, and we can't stop the run. A lot of orange, that's for sure.

Yes, I can't imagine those two shades of orange blended together. Yuck.

I'd go see the game, though.

i'd rather play an 8-2 Virginia Tech in the Chick Fillet/Peach Bowl.

They are better then either 7-3 Texas or Penn State in the Outback.

Thats the best team available to play.

I would rather go to the better bowl game (ranking-1.Cotton, 2.Outback, 3. Chicken, 4. It doesn't matter, they are all pretty low below Atlanta) than play the higher ranked team.

The bowls are only as good as the teams that are in them.

PSU and Texas are not ranked as highly or have as good a record as Virginia Tech. I'd rather go to the Peach for that reason.

Rankings schmankings. Would you rather beat a Texas team just one year removed from a National Championship or would you rather beat perennially overrated Virginia Tech?

I'd rather beat Texas, that's for sure.

It's about the money. Outback pays around 5 million and the Peach pays 2 million.

You dont gain much beating a team ranked below which is what Texas will be after losing again.

Virginia Tech is ranked ahead of UT and would be a better win. Thats pretty simple.

Its always about the money. Thats how we have this great system of naming a champion based on they do in a popularity contest or poll.

It's a bowl game, what do we have to gain? A couple of extra places in the polls?

well with this great system of meaningless bowl games the only thing anyone has to play for is pride.

I'd have a lot more pride beating a team ranked ahead of UT then one below UT, thats just common sense.

I see it both ways. Better right now to play and beat Va. Tech. However, in the long run, it looks better to play Texas, purely for the sake of saying we beat Texas. In four or five years, nobody is going to care that they had 3 losses entering the game. Just like nobody really cares now that Marlyand was 11-3 the year they beat us in the Peach Bowl. People just remember that Maryland beat us and that is embarassing. Therefore, I would rather beat a down Texas team than a good Va. Tech team.

the first thing you look at when you go back is what was the record of the team you beat. If we beat Texas they will finish with 4 losses, thats not a great team with 4 losses. Virginia Tech would finish 9-3 that looks better then Texas 8-4. Texas may get knocked out of the polls completely.

The cotton bowl isnt a real possibility anyways. Getting to choose between PSU or Virginia Tech is a real possiblity. I say go with the Peach Bowl and Virginia Tech. The Outback gave UT the shaft a few years ago anyways.

Actually, with Georgia's win, the Cotton is a bigger possibility than the Chik-Fil-A, especially if Arkansas wins the SEC CG.

Of all the teams and bowls available PSU and the Outback isnt that attractive.

I would much rather play Virginia Tech or Wake Forrest. PSU simply isnt that good and they are not even ranked.

The Cotton and Outback are equal in stature based on SEC picking order. Besides, the Cotton will probably take Arkansas assuming the Pigs do not beat the Gators. Seeing as how W.Va lost I am starting to think there is a good chance that LSU will get a BCS at-large invitation, thereby opening up the Outback to UT Vols. If LSU does not get a BCS, and in consideration of UGA and SC winning today, it will probably be the Music City. I know a lot of people have griped about the Music City but IMO any non-BCS bowl is a meaningless piece of garbage anyway so who really cares?

Bingo... I don't. They're all equal to me below the big one(s).

I actually think there is a better chance of the Capitol One, than the Music City.

If Florida wins the SEC CG, The Cotton will take Arkansas. Florida and LSU go to the BCS. That leaves Auburn and Tennessee for the Capitol One. Last year Auburn went to the Capitol One and played Wisconsin, who has already accepted a bid again this season. More important than that, the game last season between those two brought almost 20,000 less fans than all the Capitol One Bowls before it. I don't think there is a chance in hell the Capitol One Bowl invites Auburn back again.

I dont understand why Outback wanted PSU. They aren't even ranked. There is nothing about this bowl game that is particularly rewarding for a ranked team to want to go play in it.

Arkansas will play Wisconsin in the Capital 1 bowl if they lose to Florida in the SEC Champ. game.

Auburn will be selected over UT for the cotton, they are much more highly ranked and the Cotton has a tie-in to the SEC west.

So UT can then go to the Outback or Chick. Again why play unranked PSU when u go to the Peach and get to play a team ranked 2 spots ahead of you? Plus UT might bring in more fans then GA will being already in Athens.

Not to mention the Outback screwed UT a few years ago when UT was ranked in the top 10 and they passed on them. Why not pass on the Outback this year and play the better team.
