Why not a UT v. UT Cotton Bowl?

There are too many scenarios to even speculate about. I'm ready for all this to sort itself out after next Saturday.

Question: As UT fans, who should we be rooting for next week in the SEC Championship? Does any outcome benefit UT more than the other? I would think we would be rooting for Florida, with that giving us a better chance to get two teams in the BCS (Florida and LSU). Also, 3-loss Arkansas might get a raw deal as far as bowls go after losing the SEC Champ.

A Florida win would get them and LSU (perhaps) into a BCS game. Then Arkansas can go play in the Cotton Bowl...like we did when we lost to Auburn in the 2004 SECCG.

An Arkansas win gets them into the Sugar...but what about Florida? Would they then be bumped down to the Citrus...knocking all the SEC schools around in the process?

The key for UT's bowl hopes all fall on whether or not the SEC can get two BCS bids.

I personally want USC, Florida, and Michigan all to finish with 1 loss so the BCS will once again show that it does not work. All those teams have a good argument for playing for the NC.

The outback basically screwed UT by giving PSU a bid. There is no reason to want to play PSU in that game. I think the Music City Bowl will have a higher ranked team in it then PSU and the Peach Bowl is going to have #17 V Tech. Absolutely pathetic.

I have a feeling that the SEC has pretty much locked up two BCS bids. If Arkansas wins, then Florida will play in the Capital One Bowl. LSU will play in a BCS Bowl and I think Auburn would play in the Outback, leaving us in the Cotton.

Did you know God was switching to the BCS formula for entry into heaven?

Kill'em all and let the computers sort'em out.

Why do you want the BCS to fail? It works more often than not, yet, some people are so bent on seeing it fail that they wish for these situations...

But you said earlier they might take a 3 loss UT team?

That's right. The stock of the losing team in the SEC CG takes a huge hit every year.

The Capitol One would take Tennessee with three losses over Arkansas in my opinion.

I think it's all a moot point, because I think Arkansas will beat Florida, but if they don't, just know that I have called a week out, that Tennessee could end up in the Capitol One Bowl.

If I were giving them percentages now I would say...

Outback 40%
Capitol One 25%
Cotton 15%
Chik-Fil-A 15%
Music City 5%

There is no way the Cotton Bowl with and SEC West tie-in is going to pass an 10-2 Auburn team to pick up an 9-3 UT. That makes no sense.

We dont have to wish for it to fail, it does a good enough job on its own.

The reality is UT is going to be in the Outback playing a team thats not even ranked.

When the SEC team in the Peach Bowl and the Music City Bowl, is going to play a better team then UT gets to play in the Outback, if the projections hold out.

What the #@$@#$@ is up with that???

That wont' happen in my opinion. They will pick a 10-2 Auburn team over both of those teams. Putting Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl that both will love and UT will get pushed into the Outback Bowl.

Penn St should be ranked by bowl time, if it makes you feel any better.

How? They are ranked 30th now and they are done for the year?

Again I would much rather play 17th ranked Vtech in the Peach or even 20th ranked Wake Forest in the Music City Bowl.

This is ridiculous, 30th ranked PSU gets an outback bowl bid???

Again, Auburn-Wisconsin played in the Capitol One Bowl last year and they brought in almost 20,000 less fans.

WHY would the Bowl put themselves in that spot again? Just because Auburn has two losses? Come on. You're smarter than that.

Eh, they are 29th in the AP. I thought they were closer than that. With teams ahead of them losing, I thought they might sneak in.

They are 25th in the BCS this week. Does that help you? hehe:p

If I'm Auburn and I'm ranked 13th in the Nation, and I get stuck playing 32th ranked PSU in the Outback I'm going to be royally P.O. Thats a major shaft.

Gotta love Conference Tie-Ins.

I wish they didn't have them.

I wish bowls had to offer, and teams had to accept, and there weren't conference tie-ins.

Wisconsin and Auburn is the best game even if its a rematch, they are within 3 spots of each other. Its not that bad of a game.
