Why on earth was Vandy's best pass rusher

Caleb Azubike in the game with under 20 seconds left to play and the game in hand? Now he may miss the remainder of the season because of Franklin's boneheaded decision. That injury looked bad.

It's about as classless as Vandy scoring that last TD. They done the Tebow little jump pass to score instead of taking a knee.

This little Vandy troll has caught my interest. Write it off to bordom in the off week. It is now my calling to make it miserable.

He's been coming in here on and off for months now. At first tried to pass himself off as some sort of Universal state of Tennessee fan..."by golly, if there is a team within the border of our great state, then gee willikers, they got my support..." Took about 3 posts before everyone realized he was full of ish and called him on it.

Now he's a full fledged Vandy puke... kinda came out of the closet if you will. I think he's a little younger, too young to understand just how stupid it is for a Vandy fan to talk trash on anyone's message board other than say Kentucky's or maybe Yale's. Its best for him to go get the other 10 or 12 hardcore Pansybilt fans and start their own little website and leave us alone.

The play Vandy scored on was 4th down. If they take a knee Kentucky gets the ball and hardly any time runs off. Vandy can either kick a field goal or run a regular play. They throw a jump pass by the qb and score. Whether it's a fg or td they run up the score. If i'm betting on the game i'm very happy cause they covered the spread!

22 points against Kentucky is never.."running up the score"..

If any UT fan ran their mouth on Vandymania like our resident West End troll does, they would be banned instantly.

Wow, you're a class act! I guess U never played sports growing up?

Well if you're going to bring up classy behavior, I'll go ahead and opine. If only volroadwarrior were more like Brandon Vandenburg, he could then rely on his coaches to text him advice on how to cover up the evidence after he showed that he wasn't a class act. #yank'erdown #cuz thatshowvandyrolls #heycoachwhataboutthosetexts #shutupclayisaidnocomment

Link might be jacked. I'm on mobile. If so, just google vanderbilt rape. Stay classy Vandy.

Texts from coaches sought in Vanderbilt rape case

"California-based defense attorneys for former player Brandon Vandenburg said in their motion that a "large amount" of evidence has not been provided to them by Davidson County authorities as it should have been under the rules of discovery in criminal cases. "

Looks like the authorities already have all the texts and its the defense lawyers who want access to them. D.A. already cleared sneak head and co.

Same here Golden. I'm never happy when a kid gets hurt. They put in tons of work to get where they are. I can't stand AJ McCarron, but I don't want to see him get hurt.

If it were possible I could get McCarron's girlfriend then I would wish penis cancer on him and a torn ACL!

LOL! No, we will be tied at 3-5 in the SEC each. And IF there was a tiebreaker for 4th place, which there is not, UT would win it.

Unreal...did they not teach math at Vandy? :lolabove:

Ut has to win 2 more games to get 3 wins. I don't see them pulling that off.

This is your original post:

Even if the Vols somehow beat Vandy they will still finish behind them in the SEC standings for a 3rd straight year!

Whether you think UT wins or not, you hypothesized that they would. I know that's a big word, so go look it up.

Apparently you don't have to read at Vandy either. :lolabove:

immyaxl,

Honest question (not trying to be a jerk), but I'm curious: How concerned are Vanderbilt fans that James Franklin leave for another job in the next year or two? From the reports I've heard, it sounds like he's pretty frustrated with the lack of support from the fan base (e.g. the attendance last Saturday). From an outsiders perspective, it seems like you should be very concerned with him leaving for one of these big coaching jobs that are opening up this off season.

Not answering for original poster but as for myself, can't worry about what other people do, and if Franklin wants to leave, wish him nothing but the best. He has made the Vanderbilt football attractive for the first time ever. The administration has shown a commitment to football and the next coach should have it easier then Franklin did, with the upgrades for the team and the opening of the wallet to coaches and the recruiting budget. There are a lot of good coaches out there that will take $3 million dollars and then an additional $1.5 million to get capable assistants. Franklin needs to worry about the product on the field and not in the stands. If you continue to win, the people will come and the ticket will be tough to come by. No need to expand stadium in my opinion. Upgrade it to chairbacks all around and make it one of the nicest settings in the SEC.

It didn't surprise me that Franklin threw it into the end zone up 9 with like 40 seconds left to play. That's just how he is. Not to sound like I am happy that the kid got hurt, but it just seemed like karma came back to bite Franklin. That's just stupid to have their best DL in the game with under a minute left to play and up by 2 TD's.

Exactly. I never wish any harm on a kid or player of any team. Franklin is an idiot and Karma is a bit$@. Unfortunately it happened to a kid for Franklins stupid, selfish actions. Would have preferred a player not get hurt and maybe get tackled into Franklin, but usually its a player that suffers. Just ask Tyrone Prothro when he got hurt and still prob has issues from it. I know he went through several botched surgeries and infections and Shula should have never had his best player still out there. Hell Saban must have sold his soul to the Football Devil. We were technically down to our 4th team QB and last scholly guy but Saban has AJ out there with 7 minutes left still throwing the ball and up 42-10. I have no problem with a team up big and still throwing as long as its your back up and getiing him and the receivers reps. You never know when you will need him. But to have your starters in on either side of the ball and the game not in doubt is just asking for something bad to happen. Accidents and friendly fire can happen at any time and have seen countless times starters get hurt when they prob shouldn't be in there. JMO

We don't have to. Just beating Vandy and UK will suffice. Honestly if your not on top of the standings and going to the SEC Championship it is pretty irrelevant. Fighting over the middle to bottom half of the East is nothing to brag about, especially as aweful as the East as a whole is. But also can see how a Vandy or UK fan would focus on mediocrity instead of getting to the top. If you have never been there then you don't know what you're missing, keep living the mediocrity dream. A bowl would choose a 6-6 UT over say a 7-5 Vandy on most days.just from the name and fan travel alone. Just sayin.....

Here are few facts that should not be considered to be related, but are interesting to think about:

* Vandy just happened to cover the spread by scoring that TD

* A field goal would have made the margin 12, the spread was 13

* If Kentucky had scored a TD in the last minute, Vandy would not cover

* Vandy's defensive starters stayed in the game

* There is no reason for the above actions unless Vandy cared about the spread

* A lot of people bet on games, usually on the spread

* Over the weekend it came out that Vandy coaches are having their text messages, emails, and other communications subpoena'd in relation to a criminal sexual assualt case involving former Vandy players

* Lawyers are very expensive

That was an unusual ending. Why did Vandy care so much about covering the spread? Most likely, because CJF is a very poor sportsman and convinced himself he needed to make it a three score game with 40 seconds to go.

There are other possible reasons, though.

Thanks for the reply; that's a good perspective to have IMO. I don't mean to compare CJF to Lane Kiffin, because I think CJF is light years ahead of CLK in terms of coaching ability. However, I do see alot of parallels in terms of the attitude of the Vandy fan base with that of the UT fan base in 2009. He gave us hope and to some extent arrogance, because we thought that he'd bring us back. When he bolted it was devastating I think in part because it was so unexpected and I just wonder if Commodore fans have prepared themselves for the possibility.

I appreciate U being respectful. I can't speak for all Vandy fans but here's my opinion. I think he will be at Vandy for a while. Vandy has kept Corbin and Stallings and despite what people think Vandy pays top dollar. David Williams said Franklin was in the top 4 paid coaches in the SEC. It's true Franklin is frustrated with attendance but that's not something that's gets fixed overnight. Vandy's fan base will never be what UT's is but it doesn't have to be for them to be successful. Franklin has already changed the culture at Vandy. Every fan base in the SEC except UT has given Franklin props for the job he is doing. Remember all of the experts have predicted he will leave after every season he's been at Vandy. He's still there folks, get used to it!
