Why playing in Athens may not matter (as much)

True but I don't fear him for a homerun threat for right or wrong. Linebackers should be able to cover him.

There's not a huge difference scheming for the two. 2022 season stats:

Hooker 2338yds 21TD 1INT 338yds rushing 91.2QBR
Bennett 2349yds 9TD 3INT 117 yds rushing 84.1 QBR
Young 1906yds 18TD 3INT 137 yds rushing 86.9 QBR

If anything Youngs brief injury situation has maybe caused Bama to reel him in. He's definitely off a tad this year overall. Maybe they just don't have that one guy on the wideout they usually have. IMO, Stetson is definitely a little off this year even though it hasn't hurt them at all.

Clemson/NC State is as big a rival to those two teams as any other. I've been at a Clemson/NC State game at Death Valley 2 pre-Dabo days, and you'd be hard pressed to find a place more lit than that one.

Bennett's numbers are what they are because he's had the privilege of playing terrible defenses all season long. Missouri is the best defense they've played all season and they held UGA to 26 points. We will be the best scoring defense they've played this year . Even with that said his touchdown numbers aren't great to say the least.

Hooker has faced 3 defenses that are inside the top 30, and we are averaging 45.3ppg vs them.

Yeah, I was surprised to see so few TD passes from Bennett this year in his stats. And for Bryce, Bama prob has played better D's as whole on the year. And with his injury, his stats are not surprising, basically just a game behind literally.

That's what makes me laugh about UGA trashing us for not having played anyone, and they play the same East schedule we do, with a weaker West matchup this year.

Hooker has absolutely done more against more this year. I'm glad he gets to enjoy this.

Like us, Alabama has also played 3 scoring defenses inside the top 28. They weren't as effective as us against them, only averaging 31 ppg. Georgia has played one top 50 scoring D in Missouri. #59 South Carolina and everyone else they've played is ranked between 81st and 124.

Can't say how much the uga crowd will impact us, but I can guarantee you, that crowd will be juiced, lubricated and frothing at the mouth at kickoff. Will be a helluva test for our guys to be sure.

It’s going to be an advantage for the Georgia Bulldogs because of the communication for the Volunteers defense and offense which can be challenging to be heard because of the thundering crowd in Georgia.

Also the Volunteers are going to avoid getting a high amount of penalties in this highest bar challenging regular season road game.

The Bulldogs aren’t going to make the mistakes that a good LSU Tigers team made.

That is why the Volunteers are going to have to play a great full game to defeat a great Bulldogs team that is highly unlikely to self destruct.

I know I posted all the main stats, but I was mostly referring to the season rushing stats of Bennett and Young not being what you'd think. If we play the D against UGA that mostly kept Young's legs in check, beating GA may not be so far fetched. WE can focus on that beast of a TE UGA has.

After watching this season, I don't think there's much that gets our guys rattled. The went down the field after the fumble-6 vs Bama like nothing even happened. UGA will be rowdy, and that might hype up their D, but I don't think we'll get rattled.

Bowers is the great Bulldogs TE.

I agree, and the Volunteers defense will need to successfully defend Bowers to have a realistic chance of defeating the Bulldogs in a close game.

If Bowers has a great game then it will be highly challenging for the Volunteers to defeat a great Bulldogs team in Georgia.

Was thinking about how much difference it makes to play a home game vs away. Certainly, it has mattered for Alabama in Neyland. I am convinced they made so many mistakes because they couldnt hear themselves in the huddle or at the LOS. The bookies even bake 3 points or so into the game for the home team.

This is the knock I hear a good number say against us - that we have had all these wins at home but we will not be so great on the road. I think its also why people believe somehow that we havent really been tested yet. Yes but when you beat Florida, when you beat LSU, when you beat Alabubba, you need a win against a top team on the road. It's always something. At some point though they, and we fans too, will run out of excuses. This Saturday will be the last wall of resistance.

So that got me thinking. How much advantage does the home team still have in a raucous stadium like we will no doubt be in on Saturday - when the visiting team doesn't actually huddle? When they get their signals by looking at huge flags on the sidelines?

Sure, they have the benefit of not having the loudness when THEY are in the huddle nor do they have the pressure of so many people there just lusting for your destruction (and its a real, palpable thing) so there is that in their favor.

But for Heupel's offense, I think the way that they call it may take away at least a portion of the advantage of noise. Granted, I know we do a LOT of quick adjustments on the line but our guys are used to lining up and doing things so fast all of that has to be pre-set mostly but I don't know.

Does the no huddle remove the or reduce the home team's advantage when we play on the road? Maybe the true football minds here can better elucidate.

Crowd has to breath sometime, it will take a while for them to get coordinated

I’m would strongly agree.
A not resilient team would be rattled, and unable to recover after that embarrassing looked like from The Replacements movie turnover.

The Volunteers showed they are a resilient great team since they were able to tie the game, get a needed stop late in the game, and they moved the football into field goal range quickly.

Well you have to think at our pace it should make it extremely difficult for the defense to communicate if they can't hear either

Solid point. They'd be affected more. Watching Hooker and co get up to the line and run plays Saturday without hardly any verbal communication gives me more confidence in them being able to handle it better than most teams may.

this is actually something Cooper Mays mentioned earlier this weekend. that they are less affected by crowd noise because of the fast pace no huddle.

It’s not that scary of a place to play. Certainly not like Neyland. In 2004, we sure shut them up by the 3rd quarter.

Now compare the teams all 3 have earned those stats against. I bet there’s a decent talent gap between two of those quarterbacks vs one. Also, Bennet’s int total in the UF game surpasses HH’s for the year. And HH’s was more bad luck than bad throw.
