If Obama and Biden are so strongly for propping up social programs for the "less fortunate" then why do they refuse to set the example and donate more to charity. Biden does not even tithe, yet, he still calls himself a Catholic.

What does tithing have to do with tax policy? I could care less if Biden doesn't give to his church.

There are only two things certain in life: death and taxes. Obama's tax policy is going to cut taxes for the middle class by raising taxes on the wealthiest 5%. McCain may not raise taxes, but the middle class will definitely not see the breaks that the wealthy see.

You honestly think this is a good thing?

The point he is making is since they believe those with money should help out those with less, why isn't he practicing what he preaches and give a little personally?

I never said it was a good thing, I was just stating the difference. To be honest, I go back and forth on taxes. I see both sides of it. Sometime I side with the Democrats, sometimes I side with the Repubs.

Develop some principles you live by and you'll not need to keep teeter-tottering.

Because he believes, like all Democrats, that the government can hand out your money BETTER than you can

I get his point, I just don't think it is a very good one. Paying taxes and giving to charity are not the same thing, despite what many around here think of Obama's tax plan. Also, isn't tithing a personal matter? How does this guy know that Biden doesn't give to his church or other charities?

I have principles, but I'm sorry I don't toe a party line. I believe in thinking for myself, and on many issues, it isn't hard to understand both sides of an arguement. This is what's wrong with the country. Every issue is so polarized that you have to take a side and call the other side stupid, rather than taking an objective look at the issues.

I think there is a lot to that point. Obama's proposed tax cuts are not even really a tax cut considering a very good portion of the base he is trying to appeal to already pay very little to no taxes. It is taking money from those who have more and giving it to those who are less fortunate, which is one of the principals behind tithing.

I do agree that we don't know what he does as far as charities go unless he has made some statement that he does not.

So one of your principles is to steal more from people who have more?
