Why the Florida Game Doesn't Really Matter

No Orange colored glasses here. None in the color of Pruitt either.

There is zero reason with coaching and recruiting that we cant win the SEC in three years. If we cant do it in year three what makes you think year 5-10 will be different?

No way to recruit that kind of talent in that short of time to complete with them. They have a star studded class already coming in next year. Kirby is proving he's no mid tier coach and he's going to have a lot better Jimmy and Joes than us. Just the way it is right now

Something drastic DID happen. It was Mike Hamilton. He took what was a 6-5 historical program that everyone thought was a top tier program, watched it become top tier, then fire them. Then brought in the best he could. That failed as did the two after. The big timers do not come here. Or Georgia. Or almost anywhere. They stay. You get the coordinators and mid majors
Auburn - Coordinator to mid major
USC - failed HC, coordinator
Georgia - coordinator
Florida - HC at a mid level Power 5
Mississippi State - Coordinator

You have a guy that has inherited a mess that dates to 2008. He will not fix it overnight. Saban didn't. Kelly isn't. Relax people.

TN is a historical 6-5 program? Seriously you are not this dumb.. are you?

No, in the scheme of things, we are all made of dust and water and will die soon.
So, no the Florida game or any game doesn’t matter much.
But, while we’re alive and enjoy sports and root for UT and want our program turned around and to get six wins for a bowl game and to get extra practices and to help recruiting and morale of the team and the fan base- yeah, it matters a helluva lot.
And all the congregation sayeth “Amen”.

It doesn't matter if it's this Saturday or Saturday 20 years from now,,the Florida game always matters!!

If it doesn't matter lets skip 3 hours of football. We can meet at Calhoun's eat ribs and drink beer. After that we can pick up our champions of life trophies , have a group hug and flip a coin just so we have a number to add to someone's record

My point is...and perhaps I should have stated it better, of course it matters to Vols fans...it's Florida. It doesn't apparently mean as much to FL fans...since a large part of their ticket allotment was returned. Of course CJP wants to get his first SEC win. And it's probably our best bet at getting a conf win this season...and shedding some of the stinch of last year. All that said, unfortunately, the outcome of this year's game has no impact on who's winning the SEC, CFB Playoff, etc. Which is a shame. If Pruitt has us in the running with GA in 2 or 3 yes, no one willcare about who won this game. Does anyone care that Vandy beat GA in 2016? No.

Wait, you were serious with this thread? Lol, I honestly thought it was a trolling thread.

Major fail. You will never, ever convince the majority this game doesn't matter. Never. You should know that. So, what was your point? Haha, I don't really care either way, just curious.

I agree with the general premise that whichever team loses will be bumped a rung lower on the rebuilding ladder. If we lose, add another year or two to however long it is you think it will take CJP to make the Vols competitive against the better programs in the country.

it's all relative and VHB kinda touched on it.

neither team is going on to bigger/better things this season as a result of winning. but we are peer competition for each other, and at the stage we're both in right now given the new coaches and both rebuilds, it is important from the standpoint of being competitive with your peer group in the conf.

6-6 or 7-5 was about as good as most really thought this team could do.

beating this FL team is part of that. after that, you're looking at MO, Vandy, KY and maybe USCe (though i think they're a little better than we are right now) as being the next opportunities to compete within your peer group.

you'd like to be able to win more of those than you lose. it at least gives you a foundation to build from.

I know it doesn't matter nationally or even conference wise much but I will probably still be yelling at the TV like it was the national championship game.

All games matter. What winners ever say “XX game really doesn’t matter”??? That is a loser’s mentality.
