Why the O-line Was Awful in 2018

I worry that when the OL doesn’t dramatically improve to 8 wins in 2019 some fans will think it’ll never improve. We’re getting the players but they still have to be developed.

I think 2019 will be another difficult to watch OL year, but we won’t be dead last in those OL categories again.
Yeah, I'm afraid of that too. Even if we've got all highly touted frosh in there, it takes time to be SEC ready on OL. Even guys like Cade Mays, who played alot for UGA this year, struggled alot. And, the argument about our current OL will get better, having another year in Pruitt system and S/C program, doesn't make me feel that good either... I mean, say they improve...maybe they jump to 80-100 ranking range. That's still not gonna get much done. Maybe combination of Kennedy, a couple of guards and Morris/Wright at tackles could work. Need a good OC, for sure...maybe Cousin Eddie will go get us one.

With a consistent strength and nutrition plan the average muscle gain for a male is .25 to .5 pounds of muscle per week. So theoretically, the guys who are behind the curve in their muscle gain should improve in year two of the S&C program, but it's still not going to put most of them up in the upper echelons of olinemen.

JG needed to get rid of the ball quicker, pick up blitz's better, and didn't read some defenses and can be better in all those areas.
Everybody is a racist to some degree, but if you are winning people tend to overlook color and if you aren't the morons want to say that's the reason. Give it a rest.
Great way to excuse racism. I salute you though. Afr least you stood up and admitted it.

Don't misinterpret my post... No excuse for discrimination based on Race BTW... Virtually anybody that says they aren't racist to some degree is a liar IMO. Curious now if you feel like sharing your ethnicity I could probably prove my point. If you are black statistically 65% of your friends should be white and 10% Asian, native American etc...Most likely that's not the case since people TEND to associate more with their own race. Even in a mix race family you will find. A severe lean one way or the other.
I wont go into a lot of detail but my college room mate (now a retired Col in the USARMY) is black ( and I'm not). The University we went to was located in a county that had a billboard that said " Welcome to ____ county home of the KKK. I wound up being his room mate because the other guys asked to move because they didn't want to share a bathroom with him. We had some long discussions about racism and decided we were both racists but both of us always hired/ promoted people based on the job they did not the color of their skin.
I would be happy to discuss further if we had PM ability or maybe we can start an off topic thread?

Not really taking up for Guarantano but if the defensive line is getting that much penetration to stuff runs on running downs, what do you think is happening to the vision of the throwing lanes on passing downs?

i think something else we learned was there are some people on this site who comment a lot and dont know shyt about football. and they are very could be racist as well
Do you really think this is a good time and place for that confession?

It was obviously pretty good as we were better on passing downs.

Guess JG did actually do well reading the defense.
No. He didn't... and you probably need to factor out the ineffective plays. A 3rd down pass in the flats that the D gives the QB knowing they can prevent a 1st down... isn't an effective offensive play. I know you are into padding stats and all... but that doesn't score points or win football games.

The guys I saw doing a lot of whiffing and missing blocks were Niehaus, Johnson, and Richmond. I have to think their grades were terrible yet they kept running them out there evidently they were three of the best we had.

Sorry pal but like always the stats say you are WRONG. Please show this breakdown of ineffective plays padding stats. You simply have a bias and make stuff up.

We did way better on passing downs. That means the qb, JG, did a great job of distributing the ball.

No. Considering UT was 10th in the SEC in 3rd down conversion... it means that he checked down too often to guys who had no hopes of making a 1st down.

Stats don't lie. UT is now 2-10 against FBS opponents with JG as the starter. The O behind JG as starter has scored 21 ppg. Those are "stats" that emphatically demonstrate ineffective QB play.

If you were remotely objective and honest... I'd take the time to find or create stats showing the number of failed 3rd down conversions by JG when he completed a pass. But you are so intellectually dishonest... it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

You are the only one here that has demonstrated racism at all. You introduced it. No one else did. You don't want to objectively discuss the facts so you throw the racism card.

I believe in one race. The one descended from Adam. The amount of melanin someone's DNA determines they have... has nothing to do with the worth or merits of that person.

You choose who you are. You choose what values you hold. You choose how you will react to what life throws at you. You choose how you use the talents and opportunities you are blessed with. NONE of that has one thing to do with race... it has to do with personal character.

It is no more racist to criticize JG than it was to criticize Bray when he was running around acting like an idiot.... or AJ Suggs who was a terrible QB... or Crompton who didn't have it between the ears either.

confess away!
You are doing a pretty good job of it... I think I'll just watch you.

As for me... I recognize one race. We're all human. Everything after that... is a matter of choices and artificial distinctions.

Do these guys ever take the time to consider how ridiculous it is to call someone a racist who pulls for UT football? Black kids are going to make up over 80% of a typical UT depth chart. If we were "racists"... there are teams with more racial "balance" than that.

Racism won't die in great measure because too many find it a convenient out.

LOL WTF indeed … not astute enough to understand evidently. Gonna make your own narrative cause you don't see that most everyone is a racist (maybe not Mother Theresa) but that's about it?

I didn't tell you who your friends should be, I said you are a racist if you don't have something close to the race ratio of the populous of the US. Most people don't but if you aren't smart enough to see that, I cant help you. My son belonged to a Greek fraternity who had better than statistical dispersion of Native American, Black and White brothers which surprised me. My friends who run the local Kappa Alpha Psi foundation are admitted racists because not a single white brother but I raise money for them anyway because I support trying to give kids a positive male role model in a single mom home.
If you are honest enough to look at this way... Almost All people are thieves too but there is a big difference between leaving work 5 mins early or getting a pen from work for your kid and stealing a car.
I don't know what a BD kid is but my roommate is one of the finest men I have ever known and earned what he got through hard work.
You are FOS if you think someone is calling JG out just because of skin color unless you dig up they also held the same opinion of Dobbs then you may have a case. I don't like either of both the last two presidents we had in the US does that make me a racist or nah?
