Why UT will get a big time coach.

1. We have top ten facilities in basketball
2. We are willing to offer big time money ($2M plus)
3. Tennessee has prove the last six years you can win consistently
4. We have a foothold in recruiting at Atlanta
5. We have a fanbase that wants and expects a winner in basketball.
6. The UT administration knows they are on the hook for a good hire after firing Pearl

3. Consistently.... what? Win? Lose?

4. We have HAD a foothold in Atlanta. Not so sure anymore. Will depend on who new coach is.

6. The adminstration has shown they don't care what the fan base thinks. Cheek is gonna do what cheek wants to.

I'm in the group we will get a decent coach not a big fish but if you want #7 MH is is skating on thin ice. He needs to step up to the plate, swing away, & hit a home run to use a baseball anology or he may be shown the door sooner than later. Maybe this could be lumped with #6.

Lets see. you take an arena that holds 21000. Take away 14000 pearlophiles as you call them and that gets us to buzz ball the second go around. Empty arena and the curtains. But I'm sure you will rather have that

I believe we will get a big time coach too and agree with everything except #4. I think the relationships the staff built had more to do with the foothold in Atlanta. I'm not saying another coach can't do the same though. If we do get a big time coach he will have ties to a great recruiting area, just about every big time coach does.

Agree. Although perhaps "proven ability to recruit Atlanta" works just as well. Any coach with self-confidence will see that Pearl did it just fine and assume he can do it too.

it would be awesome if we got a big time coach. I was just not placing my faith in cheek and hammy to get it done. I hope they prove me wrong

I dont think this makes sense. Or to say that we'll get a better hire because MH is on the hot seat.
I don't think they're going to try any harder than they otherwise would and more effort put into the hire does not necessarily mean a better hire anyway.

I could maybe see the logic that we'll get a more risky hire because Mike needs a home run not a base hit but thats not really saying anything Earth shattering looking at MH's track record of hiring what's young and hot at the moment.

Judging from the majority of the posts on that page, it looks like the average IQ of that bunch is about 50. They're too stupid to grasp the fact that Bruce Pearl and Bruce Pearl alone is responsible for the actions that left UT no choice but to terminate him.
