"Wikileaks" to unveil it's "biggest leak yet"

Perhaps there was more justification. I do not know proper military protocol is those situations. However it did seem to most people like an unjust thing to do. But hey, if anything, that brought more attention to what's really going on down there. Misleading to some and enlightening to others.

I fully understand that they are being selective. They have to. So I don't think we are at a misunderstanding here. People bring documentation to Wikileaks and Wikileaks sifts through it and publishes what they choose. If there is an agenda behind that then who is to know, really? Take it for what it's worth. If something is exposed then perhaps it is for the best, despite whomever the source is !

For someone who has no side, as you stated, ypu sure are taking one. Your also a fool if you think Wikileaks or any other news outlet never has an intent. Fox news intent is to pull member to the right, msnbc is to pull viewers to the left, and Wikileaks is about making the US look bad. I'm sorry you can't realize that.

After reading a quick touch on what is covered in these leaks, I'm fairly sure that these folks deserve to have a string of unfortunate accidents. Pure slime.

I thought it was against the law to leak classified information? I'm surprised the govt hasn't shut their website down. I assume they will go after who ever leaked it, and since you need a security clearance to have access, doesn't seem that difficult for them to do that.

They have leakers to this site in prison already.

Oh come on, get outta here guy! Which side have I taken now? Think about this. What's a side to take in this situation? Those who support Wikileaks and those who do not? So, perhaps it goes that if I support Wikileaks (whose founder, according to some on here, has an agenda against the US) then I am what??? against Amurica? If you don' like it you can git out! I mean, really now. Wikileaks isn't even a news outlet. And for Wikileaks being against the US? Look I don't claim to know of the intentions of Wikileaks absolutely. But if the government does horribly screwed up things then those need to come to the light of day. Damaging as they may be, if it leads to change in policy then it is probably in our best interest to let Wikileaks continue playing it's game. Shady as the game they play is, I support that. So as for sides, yeah, I'll humor you. I fully support an organization which exposes political corruption and criminal doings.

There's a story in a UK paper that suggests one thing included in the leaks are documents that show the U.S. said bad things about Nelson Mandela! Oh the horrors! It's funny that in the same story they state that Mandela made a claim that the U.S. didn't listen to the UN because Kofe Annan was black. So the U.S. saying something about Mandela is a scoop but Mandela making a dumb racism claim is justified?

you did say in your initial post that you hoped it was something big - sounds like you are taking sides. As far as I could tell your reasoning for hoping it was big was that you wanted to be part of something.

But to be completely honest I hope this is as big as they make it out to be. I mean, really, aside from political elections I haven't been apart of any mass stand-together in our country in my life.

Of course I said that. Let's take it in with the rest;

I want to see people stand up, put their foot down, and raise all hell. Riots in the streets! Whose with me!!!???

:loco:

If that points to me taking a 'side' then why, yes! Yes I have chosen my side long ago my friend! Listen dude that was armchair revolutionary speak right there. Hah! I'll have to put my Guy Fawkes mask on next time so that you may better understand when I am being facetious. :birgits_giggle:

What arm chair revolution do you want to be a part of? What do you want to change in America. Please don't be vague with your answer either like saying "changew in America." I'm asking for real details? When someone says revolution there is normally blood shed and things get really turned upside down. What revolution are you looking for?

Anyone who supports wikileaks should have two hot ones right beteween the eyes, or maybe behind an ear.

That :censored: who publishes wikileaks has something coming, he deserves what he is going to get, unlike Bill Ayers who still hasn't gotten what he deserves.

A lot of people have wised up to what has transpired.

In before gsvol gives some tortured explanation as to why this is Obama's fault.

You thought WRONG!

What's come out so far is simply airing diplomatic dirty laundry - we said bad things about "insert foreign leader" in some communications.

Still waiting for the illegal/criminal activities...

I have an honest question, if one decides to read these leaks would we be liable by any gov't legal action? I'm interested in reading what these have to say honestly.

No - they are being filtered through news media.

Also, there should be no problem reading them directly from their website.

Hillary ordering the spying on UN officials was apparently a breach in international law according to that earlier link. Of course that was from a UK site, and the word "spying" is being loosely used.

Embarrassing no doubt but probably on par with secondary NCAA violations.

I'm betting there are weeks of this type story. It will mess with international relations, the U.S. will look bad, maybe some diplomats get arrested for "spying" and that will be the extent of it. Oh, and intelligence gathering will be set back. A leaker or two will be caught and jailed. Well done Mssr. Assange.

You gotta get more familiar with that question mark.

As for explaining what change in policy that I want or what I am looking for in a revolution, well, let me think about this. If it seemed you were truly earnest in your inquisitiveness then perhaps you would actually see a more direct response to your questions. But I do not suspect much earnesty in your questions. Moreover, to me, that's not a response that can be summarized in one, two, three, or four paragraphs. That's pages of writing of writing my friend. So again, sorry, but no. Not worth the effort on my part. Perhaps if I met you face-to-face and you asked this question then my response would be entirely different. Be well, ihatethebuckeyes, and try not to take this response to heart. It's nothing personal! :salute:

Anyone else finds the coverage of the cables to be amusing? Check out The Guardian's live blog of the leaks ; WikiLeaks US embassy cables: live updates | News | guardian.co.uk

It's quite entertaining from my point of view. It's almost like they are writing reviews for an album or a book. Every 20 minutes they post a leak with a review attatched to it. All they are missing is a star rating system. Someone create 'ratewikileakscables.com', hurry!

An agenda towards the U.S. govt? I did not post this thread to discuss wether or not Wikileaks has a hidden agenda nor to discuss the character of the founder of Wikileaks. I did, however, post the recent allegations that were made against the founder of Wikileaks because it was kind of a big deal. I have no side that I am with. I post this thread because interesting claims are made. If you think Wikileaks is a joke, then I insist you look into more of their findings (most notably the recent 'leaked' video of a US air crew murdering innocent civilians). Accusations against Russia and the Taliban have been reported from this recent leak. We will know more when it is all finally released.

Furthermore I think we have a different understanding of how Wikileaks works. My understanding is that the purpose of Wikileaks is to serve as a publisher for secret or classified documents which are sent to them by persons who wish to ananymously release the information to the public. If it seems like Wikileaks has an agenda towards the US or any specific country, then it is because someone, presumably working closely with that country, got ahold of dirty laundry and then sent it to Wikileaks to sift all through and publish the findings.

Yes, innocent civilians carrying powerful arms in a war zone.
