Will 2009 be Urban's last year at UF?

Remind me to quote you when CUM accepts the ND HC job January 10th, 2010

No need to hang on to this quote because I never said CUM wouldn't go to ND.... I just said UF wouldn't be the same without TT.

Personally, I DO BELIEVE CUM goes to ND in the near future....

Urban meyer probably isn't going anywhere. UF will probably make him the highest paid coach in america after this year. Providing they win it all. I'd say he's due a hefty raise win or lose.

The only way to get an advantage is for other SEC schools to hire his best staff... Thank you, MSU!

Meyer was a psychology major in college. He knows the buttons to push. I can't say that he won't leave or I can't say he made me happy with that statement. I do know he HAD 2 chances to go there now. If we was at least thinking about it there would be more smoke. He loves FLA, the players, the university, the staff. He is young and motivated. We are enjoying this ride we're on right now. If it ends next year, then so be it. We'll get someone else just like you did. College football is a lot like the economy - up and down. For now, we will enjoy what Meyer is brings to this school and football team.

Don't kid yourself. He loves winning.

If that guy starts losing after Tebow & company go pro and his staff is depleted, he'll go to ND. The fact he didn't go to ND this year (and I agree that ND likely asked him about his interests) bodes well for his thoughts about the 2009 Gators. I hope he's wrong, but I know you're still loaded with talent.

In the end, I hope he's a good Catholic and does what he should so he doesn't have to deal with all the guilt.:p

Meyer will be here at least ten years and then who knows what he does after that. And you know what? I'm fine with that. As you guys saw here with Fulmer, after staying in the same spot for a long time you just lose that edge. Foley is an excellent AD and if he's still here when Meyer steps down I'm sure he'll get us another great coach, or at least another Zooker who can successfully bridge the gap between great coaches.

I don't believe Meyer for a second. If ND was his "dream job," then why didn't he accept their offer last tlme! He say no to the irish to take the florida job. What's going on? I think that Meyer, having already won one national title at florida and maybe a second this year, is attracted to the idea of "saving" nd football. So, yea, it's an ego thing for him.

He'll take it when they have the athletes that he could win with from his first day on the job, as the Gators did when he started there.

He wants to be a good Catholic, but he likes winning so much he's using confession as his way to deal with it. Eventually, he'll do the right thing and go to ND.

I would think that if Meyer wins the NC he would go for the Notre Dame job, to challenge himself, and because it seems to be his dream job.

Calculated move on his part. UF was obviously a quicker fix than ND and CUM didn't have the security and stature 5 years ago that he does now...

If you read the quote it sounds similar to the Jim Mora, Jr saga while ATL HC.... Seattle radio station discussing his love for UW.

sure how he and his system would fare at a major program. He picked florida--and it's worked out better than he could have hoped. He knows how competitive the sec is, and I'm sure he knows that he's not going to breeze through this league every year--although he might! Now, after his florida success, he can go to nd--attract recruits--and do what four or five other coaches couldn't do. The conquering hero. Hell, ND plays a fairly easy schedule nowadays--tough in the past, but fairly easy nowadays given how lame the big 10 is. I'm still skeptical that he'll leave florida anytime soon, and this is the only rationale that makes sense, given that the nd job is NOWHERE NEAR as good as the florida job anymore.

If Tebow announces he'll go pro this year, will that be enough to push the balance of 'doing the right thing' versus 'got to win games' far enough to send him to ND this year.

It's not like his staff is coming back next year either. So, he's already got to rebuild that.

He looked moved by Tebow's devotion to being a missionary. Here's your chance Urban.

Exactly. How can you not follow your dreams?

It's Florida. What's so special to God about that?

Urban Meyer is that you? haha. TN is desperate right now. Meyer will win 5-6 more SEC championships and maybe a couple more Nat'l Champs and call it a career. If he goes to ND, good luck. Kiffin will be gone by then anyways...

Billy Donovan's dream job was Kentucky. He's had the opportunity and he's still at UF. To say something is your dream job doesn't mean you will take it.
