Will Anderson sure is scary….

Byron Young is having a great season. Will Anderson will most likely be the 1st defensive player selected on draft day. He's a monster, and pretending he's not is silly. He led the nation in sacks last year, and you better believe every QB knows where #31 is lined up prior to the snap. I mean, I sure as crap hope Hooker knows where he is.

Anderson is a great player, but the fact that y’all’s first reaction in seeing that BY has put up better stats is tripping all over yourselves to affirm that Anderson is vastly superior to our guy is a little sad.
I don’t think it would have been a reaction at all had the OP not made a silly, over-the-top reference to “Willy” being inferior…

It’s called trash talk. The media have slobbered all over Will all season long, OP was showing BY some love. People didn’t need to rush to defend Anderson’s honor like a bunch of knights errant defending a maiden. We have such an inferiority complex as a fanbase.

Guess I’m not a big trash talker. To each his own!

Anderson is the best defensive player we'll face all season. That's not an inferiority complex. That's just being real about his talent.
But yes, looking at pressures per game BY and Anderson are just about even.

I like Byron’s story, where he came from and what he did to get here. Now he’s white hot at his position, one of the best in the country with a supercharged motor and he’s hungry. I’m gonna dance with the one that brought us. I hope he lives in Bama’s backfield on Saturday and their QB is living on his arse!

Some can't help it. They were slobbering over Florida, saying we wouldn't win. Got offended when some of us said Kentucky wasn't that good, even still trying to defend them after two losses. They'll be making excuses for the tide Saturday night, and go straight into we have no chance against Georgia. It's just who some of them are, and they don't even try to hide it.

Anderson is the best player in the country regardless of position. I love BY, but I'd take Anderson in a heartbeat. That being said, I hope BY puts BY on his back all day on Saturday. If we can limit or somewhat neutralize Anderson, I love our chances.

I know he’s elite but he was having a terrible game vs Texas around 5 penalties 1st half missed tackles and the announcers where still fawning over him. It just seems some guys practice their talking points and spew them out even if it doesn’t fit the narrative. It makes me pull against some their pumping for their personal reasons. I know should go with the ESPN flow.

Really we better block him? Are you sure lol?
I mean, I don't know. Maybe we don't have to block an edge defender in ANY situation 🙄.

Stop their run game? Well hopefully our 7th ranked rush defense can help with that!

Alabama runs the ball a lot better than anybody we've played so far.

And, all edge rushers are not the same. Yea, I'm sure about that. LOL.

What makes him the best player in the country? Show me the stats. Or is it just a media love fest because he’s the best defensive player on Bama’s team.
His career stats are really dang good.

You are taking one stat, pressures, and assuming that means best. Anderson has more sacks on fewer pressures. Which means he is more efficient of a pass rusher. Also Anderson is a known commodity, which means he gets more double pressures, and other schemes.

You could also compare tackles and tfls, the stats that really matter.

Also the season isnt over. And we are about to go head to head. I would at least wait until they are on the same field before declaring a guy with 10.5 sacks is better than a guy with 29.5.

I think our RBs will have to bring their A game in pass protection. I expect Alabama to bring a lot of blitzes from the end/outside. If our RBs do not pick them up, Hooker may spend a lot of time evading or get lit up like he did against LSU on the missed assignment. It will definitely be an exciting matchup with our offense versus their defense. I would like to see us torch their top 10 defense.

It’s not worth going down the rabbit hole, but the only valid point here is sack per pressure efficiency. You can’t compare total numbers when Young literally just got here last year.

Hope our BY has his best game on Saturday. I also hope Will Anderson is bothered by the scheme the staff is putting together this week. Anderson is probably a better draft prospect, but who cares. Beating Alabama on Saturday will be monumental. Our BY will go down in our hearts and minds as being one of the main guys who finally got this thing turned around. Anderson will go down as an Alabama great who got his butt whipped when TN finally got back to the top.

Anderson had a horrible game vs Texas. Hopefully he’ll play as bad vs Tennessee
