Will Cuonzo be fired following a 2nd round loss

This. It would be hard to justify but in the long run the sweet 16 would be worse for the program than missing the tournament this year. It'd be hard to fire him. But he has no support. If he comes back next year attendance is going to be ugly. Hart is in an awful situation.

Not yet he's not, but in your scenario, yea not the greatest spot lol.

I could see him firing him if we lose the play in game. Beyond that, I'm not sure at all. I think hart is going to look for reasons to keep him. Not necessarily because he believes in CCM but because it's easier and solves other problems.

This is probably the wrong thing to say but something I really believe...I say yes. I don't think there is anything Martin could do at this point. He's had plenty of time to prove himself as a good coach and he clearly is not. A sweet 16 run would be barely making it into the dance and getting an extremely favorable bracket. I don't see any future in him.

There's a future, although not a very positive one.

It'll be interesting to see what he does in that situation though. No extension or anything? Might as well can him.

What if we get in without playing in a play in game but, get smacked by 20 or 30? Be interesting to see what Hart does.

In the NCAA tourney? This is t asking if you will WANT him to but do you think the university will pull the trigger?

OP, I'm assuming you consider the second round of the tournament to be the field of 64? The play in game shouldn't count as being in the tourney.

If TN makes it to the field of 64 and wins a game, you can bet the farm Martin will be here next year.

if he makes the NCAA tournament I think they will bring him back for sure

I think the resume was better last year and we didn't get in.

This is my opinion, we need to win out and make the championship game of SECT.

He would not be fired. I don't think he will be fired regardless of what happens this season unless BP gets another job first.

Win over WSU, Florida, and Ky????

This year win over Va, Xavier, and ????

Wichita State wasn't even a top 25 team? At the time of selection Sunday nobody thought they were a final four team.

And Kentucky was a NIT team? Pretty sure we've beaten a few of those this year lol

You think harts cool with making it every three years?

No, but I don't think he's gonna fire a coach that's improved every year and makes the dance either. If he makes the dance that's meeting Hart's expectations, he'll give him time to either continue that or fail.

Had to look it up for comparison....

We beat #23WSU, Xavier,#25 Ky by 30, #8 Fla., Missouri last year.

Lost to #20 Georgetown 37-36, Va 46-38, Okla. St

2 Elite 8 and 1 Final 4 Teams.

Sorry but I THINK this is a much better resume.

The issue is you're looking at what those teams where when we played them, not what they were on selection Sunday which is what the committee looks at.

The elite 8 final 4 mentions is foolish, our resume ends selection Sunday, it doesn't matter what teams do in the dance.

You may wanna check out the SOS and RPI numbers too
