Will Florida ever let FSU in the SEC?

SEC is getting good, not great coverage here in KC since mizzou joined. Paul Finebaum (geez) is a regular guest on the local sports talk here, along with Clay Tray (double geez). I think the coverage is going to be pretty good here and would imagine it might be better in STL. Once Georgia and Alabama come around on the schedule for mizzou it will be heating up here. Lately the talk has been all about Free Shoes University and Clemson
flirting with the Big 12.

I'd rather have one of them than Mizzou

Id like Georgia Tech. Its funny to me an original member of conference as well as located in city the championship game is played and GT is in another conference. Id also like Louisville. Conference is brutal enough sooner or later gonna knock ourselves out of title hunt with everyone with a loss while lesser leagues go unscaithed. Additions would also improve basketball.

90% sure one vote is all it takes to block a team joining the conference.

Incorrect.

Conference bylaws are a vote of approval by 75% of existing member university presidents regarding offering membership to an outside institution.

Tulane has a better change to get back to the SEC than UofL does of ever making it.

I wanted West Virginia, pretty good football and basketball, would be a natural rival for UK in basketball and (maybe) UT in football...Not enough TV sets to make it happen but I think it makes more sense than Mizzou

EVERY Gator fan I talk with is adamantly opposed to FSU coming in. Who knows? Would we ever had thought Missouri would be an SEC member?

One thing that would be a travesty is having a division in the SEC with a 'North' designation.

You haven't talked to me.

I want them in the SEC so they see what a real schedule looks like. We already play each other, and we already go after the same recruits. I want their fans to wonder how 20,000 Bama fans managed to find tickets inside their stadium.

I would have no problem whatsoever with FSU joining the SEC.

Doesn't Florida have a pact with some other schools to keep FSU out of the SEC?

Supposedly, yes.

There's never been anything overly official about it one way or another, however there's supposedly something between either a "pact" between UF, UGA, and USCe (sometimes UK is mentioned here) or an SEC policy/agenda against expanding into states that the conference is already in.

Tulane and South Florida are about the same if in a big time league and play in pro stadiums. Could be sleeping giants Tulane could share LSUs recruiting grounds. USF is already rising and if included in SEC they would be tough as they get alot of the lower Florida recruits.

Alabama and Auburn are also against the addition of FSU. 5 guaranteed nays mean no FSU in the SEC.

Georgia doesn't need a pact to keep Georgia Tech out of the conference. They would get vetoed a million times out of a million.

What exactly is the issue there? Heck Id be happy if they brought Duke and N.Carolina. SEC already owns football could make it the daily double by owning basketball too.

Since there's that coalition in place (Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina) none of their OOC rivals will be joining the SEC.

I'll be honest, if Tech got rid of the triple option, I'd offer them immediately.

No idea if valid but I've heard those 4 mentioned before also. In a twelve team conference 9 votes are needed to add a team. A 3 team pact would do you no good. 4 no votes are needed to block a team. The rumor I remember is that all four agreed to vote together on expansion. If UF wanted to block FSU or Miami then the others would follow suit. Same held for UGA blocking Ga Tech, USC blocking Clemson and UK blocking UL. Purely rumor as far as I know however.

Hell I'd take USF Bulls over Mizzou!! I don't give a damn how much tv ratings the state of Missoura' brings, damn it they just don't fit!!

Does Tennessee's football team still travel by bus or train? If not, I don't see how "fit" matters.
