Will Levis is trash!

We are very, very good, but one of the storylines going into this game is how "NFL QB Levis" will light up Tennessee's weak secondary. Him getting absolutely shutdown is certainly a story coming out of this one.

The best thing the nedia can do for a secondary trying to find their groove is constantly putting out that kind of story during game week. I really hope they get going about Stetson on UT's backfield so we can keep it going.

Levis is a very good QB. WE just happened to find some DB chemistry finally and went all postal on him.

I honestly refuse to listen to any opinion that includes, "Levis is a very good QB." He's not only not "good," but unless I'm completely missing something, he's average at absolute best. What has he done to earn the label of "very good?" He hasn't broken 30 points against a P5 team all season, and hasn't broken 40 against anyone. Hendon Hooker is a very good QB. Levis isn't good enough to even hold Hendon's clipboard (or Surface tablet).

Levis is not a top 5 quarterback if you ask me. Kiper’s evaluation is downright dumb. He may not be a top 10 quarterback in this class. He is severely overated by Kiper. GBO

I'd say you're missing something. In his two years as starter has passed for over 4500 yards to date, with a QB rating average of 150, 8+ ypp completion avg., 37 TD passes, and a decent 67% completion average AT KENTUCKY!! 67% completion with receiving corps that are usually enemic, and over 550 attempts to said butter fingers, is not horrible. There's a reason pro scouts look at him very favorably. They are general pretty decent at their jobs.

That may be true, but why is a QB at KY rated higher tha a QB at UT by scouts? Because they suck? I'm not a Levis boot licker, but trashing the kid is insane. He is a very good QB, and the pros think so as well. Of course, draft boards are as quirky as 5* HS players, so who knows.

Let's not forget Hooker only exists because Milton got hurt. And it has gone well for him. Hooker is totally legit. UGA may also remind you they shut him down last year after getting burned a few times early. A good QB can have a horrible day against a really good D.

This does seem to be a very competitive and deep QB class. I don't tend to look at just stats. I think it a matters alot what stats you put up where you played. So, to me better than average stats at a KY level school, are just as competitive than padded stats at a premier school. Barring 3-4 OOC games every SEC QB for instance plays essentially the same schedule.

So, if you put Young at Vandy, SC, KY, Mizz, with balance of O-line and stuff as is, what happens? There are body of work equalizers at stake that we don't get to see evaluated by the powers at be.

In the same vein, I think Hartman is a legit QB as well. And he suck rotten taters against L'ville. But, if you QB long enough, you will have a horrible day. Otherwise all MLB pitcher would pitch 9 innings every time out, and strike out 27 straight a game and give up no homers, right?

It seems to me that Hooker dedicated himself to getting better, working on fundamentals, reading defenses, understanding the offense, working with the WRs on timing. My guess is Levis not so much as he was distracted by all the talk about how great he is.

Highly possible, and he was never in danger of losing his job.

Per the booth jockey's when Hooker lost out to Milton last year, he told the coaches he was not done and he'd be coming for that job. And then went around seeking advice on how to improve his relaese and other things that he could work on to get better. And he did. So, when Milton got hurt, he had improved enough to keep the job. If he makes it big in the NFL, it will be that kind of work ethic that gets him on top.

The only thing I would say about Young is he is a good QB no matter where he goes. We were chasing him down all night and his throws on the move were on target. Got a lot of respect for Young after the game he had against us where we had pressure on him all night.

Young is no doubt a level up from most. And he was doing to us what we were doing to them. We pretty well owned their O-Line that whole game and he was just masterful. You can pressure him, and you may get him a little flustered, but no one has broke him yet. Hooker has been the same way. Yeah, our O got shut down some last year when a D coach knew how to make adjustments (ala UGA) other than flopping, but hooker still hooked. The big difference this year for Hooker and the running backs and receivers in unison, has been the up-play of the O-Line. And the rise of Keyton and McCoy to deepen the weaponry.

Kentucky fans, along with their low football IQ and resultant delusional expectations, have done Will Levis a major disservice. He could never measure up to the Herculean image they had built of him. I’m certain he heard it all and probably bought into it.

It’s funny, I just labored through Kentucky Sports Radios post game podcast (I do NOT advise you do the same) and they are STILL convinced of his world beater status. The fact is he’s an average QB with good measurables, who may be a little bit of a headcase. He is NOT franchise QB material.

I honestly think most of this is fair (except the part about scouts, they have a horrible success rate), but saying Levis is great and then supporting it by talking about Hooker being shutdown for 1 half by the best defense in the country really doesn't make sense. By that metric, Levis has had A LOT of horrible days.

Very good QBs take over games and get Ws. Levis did that last year, but he hasn't come close to it this year. His team barely squeaked by Northern Illinois and was embarrassed by a Carolina team that just lost to Mizzou. I could certainly be wrong, but I really hope my NFL team doesn't take him.

Couple things...I'll happily concede on the scouts. They are no better than the college ranking services. And at either level, it's a crap shoot. Organizational fit and offensive scheme is major. Sometimes it a bust in the making depending on who drafts the kid. You just can't completely predict how a player will transition to the pros. Mayfield is the poster boy for hanging on by a thread and look what he did at OK. AS an added opinion, I think there is too much pressure on a kid to come in and be starting his rookie or sophomore season mostly due to the money they give them upfront without earning a dime of it or proving they deserve it. Unless they are an athletic freak of nature, it is alot to ask of a rookie to be ready for NFL defenses after one training camp and be who they were in college.

KY is gonna KY. That's not Levis' fault completey. You can't take over what you don't have. They don't have the UT receiving corp, or Bamas, or Ga's. Or even UF's. In the big picture, he has accomplished a good bit with a lot less. That's what I would see if my evaluation mattered squat. Based on season averages, he's on pace to be only 300-400 yards leass on passing this year than last. More INT's than a SEC QB of his experience should have this year. But, to be fair this is Ky's MO. They start out strong, build up the hype and get the rankings, then they hit that stretch in their schedule that puts them back in line. But, for KY 8-4 or better is not bad. They are in a dead man's recruiting zone. Big10 North, WEst, and East. SEC to the South. Levis gets love from the scouts for possbility and upside. Not necessarily proof. And he is big and durable and can use his legs fairly decent when he has to. I think he is a good proto typical NFL QB with a good upside with the right QB coach. And his kind are still sought after. It is shifting in the NFL, but not that far yet. You get more for your money from a guy that can be left in the pocket and use the RB's to move it on the ground. They last longer physically.

Who else is with the Pepperjax on this? This guy was supposed to be good right? GBO!!!
Something is obviously wrong with him. His accuracy and arm speed are off compared to last year. He is not running the football. This combination tells me he is not 100%. Just better than anyone else on the current roster. Last year he almost beat us with his legs.
