Will Mason lose his job this year?

The consensus on Vandymania is that they want him gone this year already. I've never seen such devastating heartbreak in my life. They can't even find a reason to be the smug pricks that they usually are.

Look harder, the pricks are still there.

Haven't found the Ole Miss one yet but the dude should be fired for his piss poor PC after Temple. I cut it off after 3 min cause I can barely understand what's he's saying between all the stammering and ever-handy "man's" he throws in as a filler word.

:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:It was so bad even Youtube pulled the video!!!

All kidding aside CDM seems like a good guy. I hope they turn it around a little bit...not enough to beat us or anything, but I feel a little sorry for them now.

I feel sorry he got conned into the job. But I do not feel sorry for them over the way the team nor the fans acted over the past couple of years.

I don't feel sorry for them at all. Their fans have talked too much garbage the past few years while we've been historically down. I hope they revert back to the whipping boy that they should always be!! Mason is in WAAAAY over his head and I couldn't be happier about it.

I felt that way watching the Ole Miss game yesterday. The guy seems like a decent person.

Good gosh, I literally can't listen to him for more than 2 minutes. If he has a stuttering problem then that's one thing but I don't think he does. It appears he stutters trying to come up with an answer, just biding his time. And the "you know's" and "man's" are annoying as hell. I sure hope he interviewed better than that, cause if he didn't then I have absolutely no clue what they saw in hiring him.

Not to be a CDM apologist, but just because someone stutters don't assume they lack intelligence.

Sad part is Franklin might actually win the Big Ten this season at PSU --- MSU, OSU and UM all with losses already -- and Nebraska almost lost to a cupcake

Doesn't matter if Franklin wins every game, they can't play in the postseason.

No way he loses his job this year. Vandy's AD won't admit they blundered the hire. I think their AD fell bass ackwards into the Franklin hire and doesn't realize it yet. He wanted to make Vandy the next Stanford by hiring Stanford's DC, rather than hiring someone who could sustain Vandy's current success.

Basically his thought process was: Franklin totally changed the football program's culture. I'm going to hire someone who is the exact opposite and, hopefully, the new hire won't fast track our decent into irrelevance.

On paper I am sure it looked like a popular hire. He's a minority which between Strong, Sumlin and Franklin is the new trend and for understandable reasons. Then he was from Stanford as you pointed out. Vandy would obviously like to mirror their success. That said Mason isn't the next Strong and a competent interview should have fleshed that out.

Serious question... At first thought we naturally would love to see Vandy lose to UMass and send the death spiral to an even more ridiculous low.. But if you think about it, shouldn't we want them to beat at least UMass and ODU to HOPEFULLY bide Derek Mason another year for the program?

If he goes winless or 1 win I could see them pulling the plug on the whole experiment but I wouldn't mind them winning 3 games or so and it getting him another year.. The longer he's there, the better, IMO. Make it a long, drawn out death.

There is no way that they pull the plug until the end of his second year at the earliest, and even then they would have to have 2 sucky seasons in a row (by Vandy standards).

By then the damage will have been done with a couple of triple digit recruiting classes.
