Will Muschamp oof

It's bizarre to me that Willie Taggart was fired after 1.5 years in a clear rebuilding job, but Muschamp still has a job after inheriting great situations at both Florida and SCe and consistently underperforming at both. Muschamp is a great recruiter, too. It's not like he hasn't had talent.

I'd take Willie Taggart any day over Muschump. With Taggart, it takes 3-4 years to get the program going and with Muschamp, it takes 3-4 years to turn it into a cellar dweller.

Will Muschamp is a bipolar version of Ray Goff in my opinion

Man-o-live, that's is a detailed prediction-what color shirt will Muschamp be wearing when he hears the news, and will it be before or after lunch?
edit: but I love the post!

What's not to like about a football coach with the last name Drinkwitz ?

“If they implode and no one shows up we’ll have that conversation”

- Caslen to the Florence morning news

They only managed 6 points and 102 yards total in the 2nd half against A&M. It’s a safe bet to say Clemson will hold them to season lows and possible shut them out. Not to mention the loss to A&M killed their chance at a Bowl..

Dead man walking.

I could see Clemson beating South Carolina 75-0:D

There was no way Muschamp was ever going to survive. Spurrier brought them to new heights and gave them unrealistic hope. Now they’ll spend millions trying to get back there.

Muschamp didn't inherit a great situation at USC. Spurrier allowed the program to tank, hence their 3-9 season with a loss to the Citadel. The program being in such bad shape scared Tom Herman away, who was all set to sign on the dotted line. In fact, I think his best coaching job was his first couple of seasons at USC. Then, he regressed back into Coach Boom.

South Carolina will have to massively overpay to get a top shelf head coach to come over to Columbia

Clemson is capable of doing that but Dabo isn't that stupid. Better for him if WM claims a 'moral victory', hangs around for another year, finishes 5-7 next year, and sends SC recruiting to the toilet during that time. So, I think if Clemson gets up by 21 or more, he pulls all his starters on offense. I don't follow Clemson but my guess is that their second string could still beat USC pretty badly.

looks like Muschamp just got lifeline for another 2-3 years (after this one in which I doubt anyone gets the axe). my sole Gamecock friend has been blowing up the group tests.

This thread is an odd bump ... what are you referring to? Link? (not being a jerk ... I'm genuinely asking what you're referring to).
I googled "will muschamp extension" and there's nothing new.
What am I missing?

Gunner Stockton official commitment.
If anything, that ups pressure on Coach Boom, not gives him more slack. Especially since Muschamp's Achilles heel as a head coach has always been offense.

Signing good recruiting classes gives a coach more leeway if they are still in a "wait and see" phase in early in their career, like Pruitt is now. Muschamp had a mediocre 4 years at Florida and has been at South Carolina 4 years now. Continuing to sign good QBs (remember Jake Bentley?) that don't pan out just applies more pressure to him.

Stockton is a HS Junior, which means SC's hands are tied until they get him on campus and they're not going to replace a hfc after NSD so Muschamp can pretty much skate through the 2022 season.

If South Carolina is awful again this year, I don't think they let Muschamp skate because he's got a 5-star QB who will be a true freshman in 2022. He's had plenty of chances. If he remains, it'll be because they can't afford to buy him out and given the financial situations ADs are in right now, that might happen.

Nobody is getting fired after this year unless it's for serious cause or they're terrible and their contract happens to be up. I don't think Muschamp's contract is up until 2024, same as Pruitt's.

A commitment from this guy is supposed to save his job?
from 247 SPorts
Stocky prospect at the quarterback that doesn't appear to have significant growth potential. Good athlete with a baseball background that has active feet in the pocket. Can extend plays when needed and accounted for over 700 rushing yards as a freshman against limited competition. Is capable of making some advanced throws and shows touch and ball placement downfield. Shows creativity and competency delivering on screens and RPO throws on the move. Comfortable making tight-window seem throws with velocity. Still in the early stages of his development and shows the need to load up on big balls. Has a tendency to overstep with his front foot and can get loose mechanically. Very early stages of a potential NFL prospect but significant experience and development is still necessary.

Seems like they are always getting one or two highly rated guys think at some point you have to produce with them. Or show some improvement.
Seems like their best recruiting efforts over the past decade have been at RB and DE. This would be the highest rated QB in school history.

I guess that's why he had offers from Bama, LSU, Ohio State, UGA, Oregon, Penn State, Southern cal and others.
