Our special teams had lost return battle, missed 3 FGs, lost field position battle, and muffed a punt.

Special teams goes into FPI and we absolutely were wretched in all special teams facets last night

There's very little difference between 1 and 15 this year. You struggle in 1 aspect of a game or give up/fail to score garbage TD, you might slip after a close home win against a 3-5 team

Each team’s FPI rating is composed of a predicted offensive, defensive and special teams component. These ratings represent the number of points each unit is expected to contribute to the team's net scoring margin on a neutral field against an average FBS opponent.

Our special teams absolutely stunk hence the drop

So what possible use could that be in the real world? Ranking teams should be about who wins, who they beat and who lost and who they lost to.
