Windy's football discussion thread.

I think Penn State would have to get absolutely destroyed to drop below us. An UGA loss is 50/50 for them to go below us. No chance in Hades a Texas or Oregon loss drops them below us. I don’t think anyone can jump us other than the two conference champ byes that already are
I mean but an Oregon loss would move PS up, and no guarantee as to the # of Oregon's seeding there....may very well simply swap.....can't tell right now.....I think there are still some situations that can come into play on Saturday to make it interesting.

But Penn state is already above us. And a one loss Oregon won’t fall below us for losing their championship game. So they might shuffle, but not all the way to 7/8

see if both PSU and OSU end up at 11-2 with common losses to Oregon, OSU has the head to head against PSU....the committee might move OSU above Penn State
now what that does to us, I don't know

Only chance we have of hosting, is Georgia losing, and them dropping below us, which may not happen. My sources were right about ohio, let's see if this is right 😆

The B1G will have two host slots. They will concede one to ND and constrain the SEC to one. It’s a power & prestige thing.

What if ISU defeats ASU? They’re not going to leave out the B-One-Two champion, are they?

What if Georgia defeats Texas? Where will they slot Texas?

What if Clemson defeats SMU? Will they make a place for SMU? Or push them out and include only the ACC champ?

What if PSU defeats Oregon? Where will they slot Oregon?

We’ll find out Sunday afternoon…

I mean "not penalizing a team" for a conference championship loss does not mean keeping the rankings/seedings the same for the top 12.
It means those teams won't drop completely out of the CFP.
It's not difficult, and many people in the FF are making it so.
I think we will move again, also.

The larger issue is why are people hell bent to know before we're supposed to know?
What else are we supposed to debate and talk about between now and next week? 🤪

I agree. Unless Penn State gets absolutely destroyed they aren’t falling behind us. Might bridge between us and tOSU which could change our destination Happy Valley

Not really. The big xii would get the 4th bye and Clempson would slot in behind us. 11th most likely, hopefully SMU 12th
Clemsuck would get the buy.
Amy would slot behind us and Bama would be out.
The committee has said they are not punishing the loser of the championship games. So SMU, Texas and Ga are in. Also if Georgia wins and Texas loses who knows where they will put Texas because they will not just switch places.

Arizona St/iowa St winner ranks higher than Clemson. They’ll get the bye over ClemsonIMG_4206.png

Not what the comity said yesterday but I’m good with it either way
they aren’t punishing anyone this way. 4 Highest ranked conference champs get the bye. Big xii wins that over Clemson in this exact scenario. They aren’t punishing Clemson in this scenario, just following the rules

and even if Clemsuck doesn’t get the buy they’re still in and Bama is still out smu would reseed as would ASU/isu winner so the entire thing could look worlds different next week

Ward even stated it all depends how the championship games play out. So potentially Clemson dominates and the ASU/ISU game is a nail biter, Clemson could jump the big xii. But he stated they’re putting emphasis on the championship games. So in theory equal scenarios would bump big xii into the fourth bye.

Either way, it’s hard to see Penn St getting punished so bad they fall beneath us. We’re already well ahead of both ACC schools, so it’s not like SMU will jump us with a loss. A two loss (both to Georgia) Texas likely doesn’t fall beneath us. Can’t envision any scenario where Oregon losing falls beneath us. ND is too scared to play in a conference so they aren’t falling behind us. Georgia is interesting. Do they want to let a 3 loss team host? Or do they let a two loss team it beat jump it.

All good points.
Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I have no idea how I think it will go or who we will play.
