Windy's football discussion thread.

That was then. This is now.
I think SoCar is playing better down the stretch.
And
Other sports use a series to determine who is better. We can’t do that in football so we go beyond head to head.
For example SoCar is on a 6 game winning streak with a win in the last game they played over a playoff team. Bama was blown out in their last game so in my world Bama has lost more credibility than the Head to Head 2 point (maybe 3 don’t remember) gives them
I think that is a dumb way to look at it. What do we do, just ignore everyone's first six games and just rely on how teams did in the last half? Too much recency bias involved, can't just ignore half of the data points.

that win over a playoff team was because that team had an automatic bid. before Clemson got an extra game they weren't in. they are literally the worst team in the playoffs and got in on a technicality.

South Carolina got boat raced by Ole Miss at home, but of course that doesn't matter because of the completely arbitrary argument of it happened before X date.

and the loss to Bama wasn't SCar being scrappy and good. it was Bama being an absolute dumpster fire, giving SCar multiple chances to win the game but SCar wasn't good enough to take advantage. The LSU loss was a much better example of a close loss that shouldn't weigh as much as other losses.

The ranking system has always favored an early loss.
Georgia got boat raced by ole miss who lost to Kentucky. Bama beat Georgia but lost to Vandy. We beat bama but lost to Georgia and inexcusable loss to Arkansas but beat Vandy

Teams get better as the year goes on. SoCar lost to LsWho on a bs penalty and damn near beat bama. They would be favored over Bama on a neutral field.

And it goes on and on and on.

I will say the playoffs have brought up a lot of interesting conversations. Right now we’re debating who deserves to be the first alternate.

No he's not. Their backup qb did go to the portal though. Doubt Sellers would leave when his brother just signed to play with him at SC.
Mustve been faje, or someone trying to vreak it without facts. Saw it on a sports site.

I am off fir the Georgia game, I'm going God willing!

who is their QB next season ? If you dont know then @Nooga
If Bobo stays as OC, it’ll be Gunner. Rumors that he may step down and take an analyst role like Muschamp has done. If that happens, I’d expect Buster Faulkner to come back from GT and then it’ll be an open competition for that QB position. Have Rashada and Ryan Puglisi as next man up after Gunner.

Smart losing his 5 star recruiting touch ?

Cracks in the foundation maybe. Still all good on the defensive side of the ball, but the perception is that our offense is stuck in the dark ages. Good crop of high school pass catchers on the way and a 5-star DL miss have freed up some funds for portal NIL takes. Hoping for a reasonable X WR to enter the portal.

I like getting Georgia early and Florida late.
