I enjoy Willamette wines, but Russian River Valley Pinots are a favorite. We'll be back in CA wine country this September. Cannot wait.

Nice. I used to live in wine country, September is a great time to be there. I spend a lot of time tasting in Russian River Valley, and way too much money.

I am a big fan of wines from Willamette Valley. I have been up there wine tasting a couple of times. Stoller actually has a well priced Pinot that is pretty tasty.

I think I've seen the Stoller, haven't tried it yet. I'll grab a bottle next time I see it.

FYI: I'm boycotting King Estates as they are opening a gravel quarry about 5 miles from my place and its going to put 80+ trucks a day on Hwy 58 this is a two lane hwy that already has to many trucks. Not good for the 'hood. If you know what I mean. It's not near my place just impacts the primary road in the general area. He sort of blew through the permitting process, feels like some good ol boy stuff or slippery dealings.

Yea, they do make some good wines, but the way they are going about opening this mine is just wrong. Plenty of other good wines to meet my needs without putting money in Mr. Kings pocket.

Don't buy wine in freaking grocery stores. the overwhelming majority of our liquor stores are locally owned. Krogers and Costco are not.

Buy wine at the grocery and you are hurting your local economy.

Buy wine anywhere but Costco and you're hurting your personal economy (your wallet). Wine has been sold in grocery stores for years in GA and FL and there seems to be no shortage of liquor stores in either of those states.

Do you shop at Walmart or Amazon.com?

I would recommend you try a variety of them. I love reds- Cabernets and Pinot Noirs, even Zinfadels, however a white is good on a hot summer day. Whites- go with Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio.

I do a little online review searches before purchasing

Add Reislings and Gwurztaminer with spicey food on a hot evening. The only other white I really like is Cakebread Chardonnay...which is tough to find a bit more than I like to spend.

My current favorite is Kirkland's Old Vine Zin...excellent for ten bucks a bottle. I typically like big dry reds, cabs, merlot, meritage, old vine Zins, etc.

Selling grocery items along with liquor in Knox County just recently(2014) became available so you're not too far behind. The prices of those items are marked up compared to your grocery store but that's the price of "convenience" I suppose.

Best bet IMHO is a Costco. The selection is highly vetted so you rarely get a dud brand and there are some great deals at all price points.

That a Walmart in Knox? Ours doesn't have their license yet.

Yes.

Ok, good, very good,... I AM NOT DRINKING MERLOT!

Turkey Creek Walmart.

My friend bought a bottle of port at Walker Springs which I was surprised at given it's alcohol content. I did not see it at TC. It wasn't one of the better ports by any means though.

Those two wines being pretty good reds I was shocked when I saw them.

Picked up 6 bottles of Famille Perrin Côtes du Rhone today for $7 each. Going to go back and get a couple of cases. Like my Dad told me 30 years ago, you can't go wrong with a Côtes du Rhone. It's no Chateau Lafite Rothschild (which I drank with my Dad on my first wedding day, a '68 - I called it the last supper), but it's easily the best $7 bottle of wine I've ever had.
