Winners and losers of NSD

He proved he could go undefeated in SECE and coach up the talent Muschamp couldn't.

Clearly you giving too much attention to msg boards chatter because the numbers are misleading.

Signed Top rated juco RB and #1 RB in Bama ( offers from both UA and Aub) bc RB talent in Fla was down. Advantage OOS

Went oos to land 5* DE and #2 WR. Both rated higher than FSU in state guys. Advantage OOS.

OL was down instate ( Top OL was a OC- FSU landed. Top OT-Vol) Wasnt a big need with 14 OL on scholarship. Took two developmental guys and a UA All American. Swung for elite OOS guys like Dickerson, JWilliams and Simpson. Missed but again OOS talent was better than instate. Had two juco OL committed neither could qualify bc of SEC math thing.

LB was down as well. FSU signed 3.. All OOS.

DB UF signed #1 instate. Had Fulton higher than Mullen or Becker. Unfortunately UF missed you get the point. 2-4 DBs all signed OOS.

DT FSU signed #1&5 .#2&3 signed OOS.

Also most of the top players were at STA or IMG. Many of them are from OOS originally.

This may help you out some.

ESPN Football Recruiting - Player Rankings - ESPN

It was an odd year instate.

Coached up the talent? I had to stop reading after that. You do realize that after Grier was caught doping they went straight in the sh***er and that proved how well they should have actually been playing. If Treon had started the entire year y'all would've been lucky to make a bowl game. I mean y'all seriously got outplayed by a 2 win team at home!

Why are you using the worst ranking service?

Regardless of the reasons, Mac had 10 wins and a huge recruiting base. Florida State and Clemson killed it in Florida recruiting.

It should be unacceptable for any Florida fan to accept the class ranking this year. You are the only Florida fan I have heard defending it.

A 3.36 star rating and only 10 of 25 recruits rated 4 star or better at Florida is unacceptable. Of course, I hope your administration, coaches and fans are ok with it. Muschamp recruited better and these are back to back classes of which I don't ever believe I've seen at Florida since recruiting sites began.
Lol

Says who? I'm trusting the guy coming off SECE title. Do you really believe UF's administration cares about stars/rankings? Glad you threw out Muschamp. He avg a top 7 class during his time at UF. Also Avg 7.5 wins over that span. His one good year was with UM players before you decide to go that route about last yr.

Recruiting is only part of the process.

Another UF fan take, first off respect the heck outta HG a great poster on one for the best sites. I love Vol nation even though I take a little blue with my orange. You guys do it the right way here.

My Take:

Mac mentioned that we need to a better job with the state of Florida and he's right.

OL and DT recruiting this cycle were avg to below avg with our season and need.

Regardless of rumors of grades Aaron Robinson and Manuel should not have happened, even they ultimately don't end up in our class the black eye to UF was not a good look. perception is reality. (Robinson stung the most kids a player we saw waay early.

Class was solid but solid classes don't compete year in and year out with Bama's, FSU, UGA, LSU and Tenn of the world in the long run.

Other side:
Mac and staff were behind in state of Florida for 1st full class (Jimbo, Dabo, Saban, Butch, have been recruiting these guys for 3 yers). Mac countered by pulling guys from areas Collins and Shannon knew well. Hence #1 rb from Bama

This staff can evaluate well early. See Robinson, Perine (#1 Rb AL), Clayton.

Big flips-Franks #5 QB(LSU), Cleveland #2 WR(Hou), Perino (Bama) #1 K...I know I know but Saban wanted him and have you seen our kicking game?!

Mac knows his weakness and doesn't get emotionally tied if you don't produce. Out Kirk Callahan, in Torrian Gray.

Basic needs were met and nations most EE shows this staffs urgency.

Tenn should take the SECe and compete for the playoff next year if Mac is not recruiting like you Butch in next two cycles then I'd be worried.

Overall Grade: B-

Fair. With your PT to offer, recruiting hot bed, recent upgrades, and recent East ring I would have put it as a C. All bravado aside this is a bigger year for Butch than Mac to put his wins where his stars are at.

I never said Muschamp was a good coach but his recruiting won games for you last year. I simply said it has never happened that Florida has signed two classes back to back like this.

For perspective, we signed more 4 and 5 star kids in 2015 than you have in the past two classes.

Fuente went 10-3 and 9-3 the last two years, at Memphis State, and he beat Ole Miss 3 months ago,
a seemingly impossible task. I'd say he has a pretty good track record of coaching kids up.

You are right. Really it's silly that you even have to point out what should be so obvious to anyone that follows football.

Another reason we were offseason winners

Per Hubbs

We know Butch Jones held on to both Robert Gillespie and Tommy Thigpen when no less than three rival SEC schools tried to hire them in the past two months. Jones also has held on to Isaac 'Ike' Brown, the Vols' player wellfare coordinator. Notre Dame offered a similar job with an attractive compensation package but Brown stayed loyal with Jones.

The rest of it includes PEDs

The Cleveland flip was huge for Florida. Congrats on a great get, he looks likes an absolute stud. Franks doesn't impress me all too much, but to be fair all I've watched is his highlight tape and the AA game he was in. Manuel flipping was good for Tenn he's just one less beast UF will have on the DL like they've always had. A solid RB class for the gators as well. And Jeremiah moon impressed me as well

Their defense is pretty good. My guess they try, I said try, to stop the run and force Dobbs to beat them with his arm. He is a smart coach. But I think he is going to regret going to VT. He kept some of the old staff and that may come back to haunt him.

I see Iowa/Northwestern in this game. We have too much speed for them. Fuente is where Butch was when he came to TN. It's going to take a 2-3 years to work out of a hole. Fortunately the ACC is a 2 team league, while the rest of the league is rather pedestrian. This one gets away from the Hokies in the 2nd half.
