That leaves 3 middle of the pack SEC programs searching for coaches to move to TOP tier, along with bottom feeder KY. I think Arky and Auburn can give us real headache in coach search as Auburn was relevant as late as 2010 and Arky was until last year..we were last relevant in 2007. Financially i think we can compete with anyone but our fanbase is bigger and better. At the same time our recruiting base is bad and it is a heck of a rebuilding project right now !!
Your thoughts ?

How possible is it that Auburn gets slapped pretty hard by the NCAA? Haven't been keeping up with it, but it may put us that much more ahead if they do...

Money talks! If necessary, I think we overpay to get the guy Hart wants. We are going to get a bunch of 'no' answers. But all we need is one yes.

Get the plane gassed up and offer $5 million per year to the following people:

How recruiting base isn't bad it is just untapped I believe. We are starting to see your Alabama, USC, and Ohio State and others come into the state and recruit. It is starting to get better. You can't build a national championship team from Tn but you can have a solid base here. Especially if you can tap into Memphis and West TN.

Charlie "not so" strong after UConn loss,
Mora I still think hard to bring and easy to leave us kind of guy..
Kelly I would be scared as he could bolt to leave us in Kiffin Limbo ...
Peterson and Stoops are homerun hires but I see very unlikely either happening as both have previously declined several offers from different places ..
Muschamp: NO..just coz I hate him personally ..LOL..
Patterson, Fisher, Gundy, Swiney : Good hires if we can get them..
Gruden, Shaw: Very unlikely at this point..Gruden just wants attention and likes his name mentioned..he aint coming..Shaw isnt interested from what I read in media..

Half the guys on that list ain't worth 5 mil. Some wouldn't accept any amount of money from UT in our present state.

I'd say we have a shot at Gruden, Stoops, Fisher, and Strong from your list. But, at least your list is full of quality candidates, unlike some other suggestions I've seen. :hi:

Forgot another one or at least a darkhorse....Jim Tessel. Yes he has some NCAA violation baggage but his record speaks for itself and better yet...he's readily available now.Just a thought

Announcers at the game yesterday were talking about the NCAA snooping around Auburn..probably some legit schiesse going to come out of it.

UT is the most attractive job in the country to a coach that can recruit well, and here's why:

UT offers potential big money
Best facilities in the country
Returning the best OL in the country (games are won in the trenches)
UT has a proud tradition (this is attractive to guys that matter)
UT has a large fanbase
SEC

Auburn is going to be a rung down from Tennessee and Arkansas with all the sanctions and their roster so far.

I don't consider Tennessee a middle of the road program in the SEC. We are down right now but still one of the top two or three programs of all time

Admittedly, some of them ain't worth $5 million. But I think our back is against the wall. We have to hire one of those top 10-15 kind of guys. Even if it means paying more than market value.

It's a foregone conclusion that KY's next hire won't be anyone of significance. Any man who takes that job knows going in that it's a stepping stone to nowhere. Since Auburn is currently under ncaa investigation, it's going to be hard for them to reel in a big name. Arky may give us some competition, but their AD says he wants to land a new man within 10 days. Don't know who they'll get, but it looks like they'll beat us to the punch.

No Gundy, No Swiney, no Fisher, no Strong no Mora. All were losers in big Rival games yesterday. Besides, Swiney is a redneck of epic proportions--and a bammer..

Hart was at Florida St and named Jimbo the coach in waiting there. I think Hart will go after Jimbo Fisher.

No we do not want Tressel at Tennessee. By the way he is under the same thing Pearl is serving. He can not coach for awhile.
