Barners wanted Petrino when Tubs was coach, now's their chance to get 'em.

Chizik, who just finished his fourth season on the Plains, won't walk away empty-handed. Auburn contractually is obligated to pay the coach $208,333 per month through the end of 2015.

Any money he earns outside those payments, which includes work as an analyst or author, will be subtracted from the amount Auburn owes him. The contract requires Chizik "to use reasonable efforts to obtain other employment and/or income from third parties."

After one bad year? I mean they suck, but this was their #1 boy! A TIGER! Something else had to be going on behind the scenes. If Saban went 0-8 he wouldn't get fired. They would give him the support. I wonder what's up?

Yey! Glad to hear that news!

Money talks! If necessary, I think we overpay to get the guy Hart wants. We are going to get a bunch of 'no' answers. But all we need is one yes.

Get the plane gassed up and offer $5 million per year to the following people:

Gruden
Shaw
Stoops
Pattersom
Muschamp
Chip Kelley
Gundy
Dabo Swiney
Jimbo Fisher
Strong
Mora
Peterson

JH - why in the he!! would Muschamp come to UT? For any price? That would be like trading in your Escalade for a Crysler Town and Country minivan.

Although some of you may disagree, I feel that Jimmy Hyams and Brent Hubbs are both very knowledgeable on the subject of UT athletics.....particularly players, coaches(former and soon-to-be). Jimmy was saying on his Sunday morning "Sound-off" that he felt like there was a 1 in 3 or 4 chance of Bob Stoops or Jimbo Fisher being the next HC. I am hearing not necessarily from Jimmy or Brent that Dave Hart's son, the AD at UTC is close friends with Bob Stoops. It seems that Dave Hart's son was somewhere where Bob Stoops was coaching at one time and they became good friends. Also, heard that talks with Gruden were broken off....not because of money, but, because Jon Gruden wanted complete control over the program....much like Nick Saban has at Alabama. So, I am speculating the next coach will probably be announced within the next couple of weeks. But, that is strictly my opinion! I believe any of the three coaches mentioned would qualify as a homerun get. However, the University seems to freak out at the idea of the HC having complete control over the football program.

How possible is it that Auburn gets slapped pretty hard by the NCAA? Haven't been keeping up with it, but it may put us that much more ahead if they do...

I gotta think just the possibility of them getting sanctioned would be enough to keep the best candidates away. Although, Dooley is available and has proven he can assist with NCAA compliance. But will lose every SEC game.

Forgot another one or at least a darkhorse....Jim Tessel. Yes he has some NCAA violation baggage but his record speaks for itself and better yet...he's readily available now.Just a thought

Jim Tressel is a cancer to every program he's coached at. You'd have to be an idiot to want him with knowing his history.

The word is Briles to Arkansas. I would bet Auburn goes hard after Fisher. I hope Tennessee land Gruden or Stoops.

Hyams isn't knowledgeable about much of anything. Back when Matt Barkley was a h.s. senior, someone called Hyams and asked about him. Hyams reply was that he hadn't heard of him. Hyams was really on top of the best h.s. athletes then, particularly qb's. Also, wonder how Hyams calculated his 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 chances for Stoops or Fisher. I doubt that Jimmy boy is up on the laws of probability. Clueless!

No we do not want Tressel at Tennessee. By the way he is under the same thing Pearl is serving. He can not coach for awhile.

He got a 5 year show cause judement against him so he has 4 years left before any school will touch him.

"That's your opinion, your entitled to it, but your wrong. Tennessee is not gonna hire Lane Kiffin." - 2 days before Tennessee press release announcing he was hired

I have a feeling that Auburn may offer Petrino. He's got to be chomping at the bit by now to get back into big-time football and he's one potential hire who won't mind sitting out whatever sanctions the ncaa is about to levy on the Tigers, even if it means he'll have to settle for a lower salary. From Auburn's perspective, they both want and need a proven winner after the Chizik meltdown.

They can't do any better than Petrino. That place is a dumpster fire, you have to find someone who loves fire.

Arky will announce their hire first, then it will be panic mode. Auburn or UK will snap up Petrino, and VN will enter meltdown.
