With Cut gone and Trooper (maybe),what about our recruits?

to help recruiting, the school should probably consider investing in some strippers. that usually helps.

Fulmer is a better recruiter than Trooper will ever dream of being. We'll be fine. This year's class isn't going to be as flashy as last year's, but we'll get the guys we need.

Fulmer's MO is doing less with more. Not be forced to coach up average prospects. With no routine top classes coming in, Tennessee will suffer.

Trooper is a good recruiter. Not a rodney garner but good still. I say if troop leaves we throw a mountain of cash at rodney in hopes of having him return to knoxvegas.

Better yet, why not throw the mountain of money at Trooper and the OC job as well and maybe he will stay.

Sanders never truly was an OC. Fulmer gave him the pretty title, but kept such a tight reign on him, that we'll never know how good or bad he could have been. Sanders has even since admitted he wanted to open the playbook more and do things a little differently. The qb situation came about because of a disagreement between Fulmer and Sanders. It's been said 23,469 times on this board, but evidently it needs to be said again. Sanders was just Fulmer's scapegoat for the 2005 disaster.

I would love to land a Chris Hatcher. But if you really think Fulmer is going to get someone outside the family that he won't be able to manipulate and use as a puppet, you've got way more optimism than beef and IE combined. Our best bet that we can actually get will be Kippy.

As for Troop, please. Get off it people. Troop leaving isn't going to do anything to our recruiting class. How many WR's are we even looking for this year? You really think a LB is going to change his mind because the WR coach leaves?

Kippy seems like a pretty good option to me. Considering the NFL and UT/NFL players he's coached, he should play pretty well with recruits too, wouldn't he?

Pryor could still end up anywhere. Some say OSU is slipping or even out. Oregon is too far. Someone told me a very close family member (I thiink mom, but don't quote me on that) is in a wheelchair and can't travel TOO far. Florida isn't realistic w/ Tebow and WVU's coach is talking to Michigan. I guess Penn State could luck into Pryor if he was sold on Cut, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I think Fulmer will try to get Kippy Brown or Doug Marrone. If he can't land either of those, he may just bump Adkins up. I'd like to see him at least interview Hatcher. There are a few that wouldn't be bad ideas, but I don't know if Fulmer will venture out that far.

I'd be happy with Kippy. I just don't know if he'd come back to the Hill or not.

you guys do know that Trooper Taylor does the majority of our in-home visits and telephone contacting with recruits regardless of position right?

I think Kippy would be a good hire and I actually think he is very interested in the job. He would be attractive to recruits and is a good coach.

Wrong. The recruiting is not even done according to position. It is done according to geography. Trooper recruited his area. Each coach has their designated area. I like Trooper but we can certainly live without him.

It needs to be remembered that before Cut was announced as a candidate at Duke and before Trooper was interviewed at Baylor, this recruiting class was already ranked about 40th by Rivals and Scout with no 5* prospects having expressed any overwhelming interest in UTK. There are people, probably even some on the staff, who are going to try and lay a lackluster recruiting season at the feet of the departed coaches but the TRUTH is that this was going to be a down year anyway.

I think we're going to hear a lot of blame assigned to guys who are not here anymore for the bowl game, recruiting class and probably next year's record. Don't buy into it.

Its early Hillbilly. Our classes never look good at this point. Dont act like this is your first rodeo. The class had, and still has, potential to be what we need it to be.

Don't say that. You're crushing the fragile delusions of Trooper's disciples.

I agree. All Phil needs to do is hire back Rodney Garner with assurances that he can deliver AJ Green, DeAngelo Tyson, Toby Jackson, Cornelius Washington, and Richard Samuel.

Shoot- it isn't CPF's first rodeo either. The last big time player he recruited was who?...Kelly Washington (??) (I will give you Jason Witten who is showing he is a great player)
Our O needs some first rate RB's- not good- not average- but excellent, like Jamal, Chuck, or even Little Man. We need excellent DT's not good, like Haynesworth or Mr. Outland. For the last 6-years, he has been recruiting "good" for years- but unless Phil steps out of his comfort zone and hires a "great" OC, he is going to lose alot more than just recruits. He can't take another year of our biggest rivals hanging 100 on us with no response. He is so afraid of being Bill Battle'd or Johnny Major'ed, he is petrified of bringing in fresh and hot coaching talent. If he doesn't get over that phobia soon, he is going to lose the talent he needs to compete, no coaching to coach the players up, and then his job.
