With pig more than likely returning, how good is our wr core

I hovered a bit over the like button before hitting it...

I was right there along with you for the first two sentences, and then I hit the JoSmithus Hatiens bit and kind of lost traction there...

Anyway, live long and prosper. :peace2:

Truth be told VolNExile, sometimes I have a hard time figuring me out too. But then I remember that I truly love my Vols and nothing else matters.

And Smith has even more potential than Rogers had.

I really wish we'd been able to redshirt him. I have a feeling he'll be one of those guys like Rogers that really hits his stride as a veteran.

Not sure if I agree, Rogers was an elite level sprinter coming out of high school.. I dont believe Smith has ever been in a Track meet

True, but Smith as a freshmen understands more of the nuances of the WR game concerning route running, how to get open, etc.

And yet he often gets wide open. This season, the cement blocks on his hands get scattered. And we'll be singing:

He's the roadrunner baby and you just can't keep up with him.
What's that? You say you're fast?
Well you just aren't going to last;
Cause he's the roadrunner baby and you just can't keep up with him.

This team has potential but it is young and needs to be realized. Without balance receivers alone will not do it for your O. 2001 O far superior due to these aspects.

I think he was open because the defense pretty much ignored him.

Doubt it since he appeared to be the 3rd option much of the season after Pig and North. His drops were significant but a tad overblown. Pig, Croom, North,... all had drops and misplays. All are reported by Jones to have improved significantly.

I agree with you that Josh Smith will definitely get a lot of snaps this year. He seems like a talented kid that could develop into a very good wide receiver, but mentally he was not ready to play last year as a freshman.

With the way we're recruiting at that position, I would say he better improve a lot as a sophomore in terms of catching balls that hit him in the hands and chest or he will barely, if ever, even see the field as a junior.

Agree. But Croom was in the same boat while not as young. I like the talent of both guys. Both passed some other guys last year who weren't in a position to make those mistakes. One puzzles me a little since it seemed that Jones basically nudged or shoved him out- Vincent Dallas. He seemed to be a guy willing to do whatever was asked of him but got little in return.

Worley played behind a pretty porous line as a Fr after his RS was burned. He faced two top 10 teams in his 3 weeks as a starter with no relevant running game. He had ONE NFL caliber WR still playing at that point of the season- DR. Seems like that's about the time DD moved Neal to WR out of desperation.

His most significant PT of '12 was against Vandy. He went 8 of 11 for 51 yds after Bray went 11 for 29 for 101.

You've badly overstated your criticism on this one.

Reminds me of Dobbs last season, but he's gonna be a TE now.

When Ferguson takes over the Offense it will start to excel. He is the most accurate passer we have, has the strongest arm, and he is more mobile than Worley.

Hard to say anymore who is being facetious and who is serious.

Seriously... he was not the most accurate QB in the Spring game. He wasn't more accurate then Dobbs either.

I like Dobbs' game. He's the best runner they have, very intelligent, is gaining arm strength, showed very good touch in the spring game, and seems to be a gamer. Like it or not, Ferguson wilted a little in the spring game (when the bright lights came on) after seemingly poised to be Worley's main challenger. There was also the rumor that Jones was trying to take him down a notch indicating some arrogance or pride issues.

Whoever they choose, I'll support. You'd be wise to adopt something similar.

With pig more than likely coming back, and kameel Jackson coming in as a walk on, I know that besides North and pig they haven't even played a down yet but just on ability alone is this the best wr core ut has ever had? I'm asking some of our older volnation members.

Forgive me for missing it, but when and where was Kameel Jackson announced as a walk on?

Carl Pickens, Alvin Harper, Anthony Morgan, Greg Amsler (outta the backfield obviously) and Thomas Woods made up the '89 team. Can't imagine this year's class will top that.

Exactly. Each of these guys played in the NFL. I'm not about to say that the guys we have now, many of whom have never played a down of SEC football are better. They may turn out to be, but that will be determined on the field and not based on recruiting rankings.

About as good as your QB and O-line

I am ecstatic to see an Aaron Murray-less Georgia next season. I highly doubt you UGA homers realize just how much of your success was based around his stellar QB play.

Too bad everyone else on your team is garbage otherwise he may have been a Heisman finalist.

There is talent but it is young and still mostly inexperienced--and since they've been working with at least three QBs there are also chemistry issues. There is the potential for a significantly improved passing game if the QB is not running for his life most of the time because of OL problems.
