WKU Game - Random Thoughts

WKU game will depend on how well our D plays. If they give up easy scores like last year, a shoot out could evolve. And we are a fraction of what we were last year at QB. This game will be closer than many on here are estimating.

So in the second game of the first year of a new offense installation, all of the OL will be up to speed on all their reads and communication and be able to rotate in and out more than any team has ever rotated OL because of how difficult it is to not have consistency on the OL? Color me very skeptical.

The point is, there are coaches who make unorthodox decisions. They may or may not work. Spurrier did it with his fun and gun offense which was totally contradictory to how football was played in the SEC in his day. The wishbone was introduced (not invented by) Bellard at Texas back in 1968 which was atypical of how to run an offense back then. Now we have the spread, no huddle, and uptempo offenses. So i wouldn't be surprised if some coach pulled a Les Miles and schemed for rotating an entire OL. WKU's coach is known to be unorthodox so it wouldn't be farfetched for him to try something like this either. And finally, as my thread title says, it's random thoughts. That's neither law nor regulation.

A lot of people are confusing WK talent of last year with this year. They lost almost all of their playmakers and they can't reload as easily as we can. They were 1 deep on good talent in many areas.

Also, how do you think their 1 deep defense will keep up with our fast paced offense. They will be puking and cramping by the middle of the third quarter.

CDD could lose this game, CBJ won't! Vols by 25, 38-13 Victory.

I would have the 2nd team offense focus on a different offensive scheme such as wishbone, traps, reverses and trick plays. It would be a lot harder for teams to prepare for us because anything goes!

And when things are bogged down, you throw a curve at their defense.

If what you say is true blue, then we should beat them pretty bad I would assume....say like 56-13.

Not making any prediction, just clarifying several points. WKU did NOT lose all of thier playmakers. They lost one TE and two of their top WR, neither of which started. They lost their QB, who many WKU fans are glad to see go. They lost two OL and replaced them with two seniors. The starting OL is 4 seniors and 1 junior. They return the RB who led the nation in APY and his backup is a better pro prospect than he is.
On the DL, WKU lost all four starters so that will be a weakness, even though they have experience returning. 5 of the top 6 LB return and 7 of the top 8 DB return.
UT has better depth, expecially on the DL, but the fast-paced offense scenario could be interesting. With the CBJ offensive philosophy and CBP's philosophy, both defenses could be worn out before the game is over.
Well I will make a prediction after all. UT by 14.

No its not...It's WESTERN KENTUCKY!...My god the paranoia over this game is laughable at best...Just because they got the ole poon hound as their coach doesn't mean they are world beaters...UT wins by 20+

Because I post facts about a subject that I know something about and you do not? Please change your name to IgnorantWayOfLife. I have said repeatedly that UT wins this game by 14 - 17 points. How does that make me a WKU homer? I do root for WKU as I do for UT, therefore I hate that this game is scheduled. I have followed UT for 30+ years and began following WKU when I moved to Bowling Green. I do not think that is a crime. I have children with degrees from both universities. What am I supposed to do?
What is disgusting is a poster that is so blinded by allegiance to "their" team that they can not accept facts and honest, rational discussion of those facts. Such fans make themselves look petty, small-minded and stupid.
All that I did in order to anger you was post information that I had that the poster that I was responding to did not have. Personally, I like to have FACTS about things that I am discussing. As opposed to posters such as yourself who would rather blindly shout your allegaince and disparage any other posters who have the nerve to clutter your mind with information rather than delusion.
Think, man. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Woodsman you're killing me man you're killing me. I am amazed at the amount of credit you give Petrino. Is he a good coach? Yes however that same credit should go to Big Daddy Butch Jones. He too is a coach that can take mediocre talent and coach his socks off. The talent on team 117 is far superior than this WKentucky you speak of. This is Petrinos first year as well so I don't see him pulling a rabbit out of his hat two games in. I'm not buying it and you can't sell it to me. (How was that for civilized discussion? )
