WNBA - Candice Wiggins interview AKA " Bitter, Party of One"

Not 100% sure, but the year Wiggins beat out Parker for the Wade trophy, would have been Parker's RS Junior year. 99% sure, she only played 3 years at UT and won 2 NC and went pro. Not that it matters, just saying

They were both seniors by class.

Oh my, those evil feminists!!!. Actually, Candace did grief from an aggregate of folks, Sparks fans, sports media commentators who felt she was putting personal interests in front of team (including national team consideration). The latter point is particularly ironic given 2016:

Remember when motherhood wasn?t controversial? « Hot Air

Of course, no chance to take a swipe at "feminists" should ever br foregone (ooh, shudder, shudder, women wanting equal pay and stuff, ooooh scaaaary) but sports media and fans' reactions to Candace's pregnancy HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS ISSUE- that is Wiggin's claim that a straight, attractive women in the WNBA will be endlessly bullied by a 98% majority of lesbian players.

Oh, yeah that estimate would also mean that she and Candace would have been the only straight players in the league.

Triggered

Like a true so-called feminist

She may be somewhat attractive, but nothing special by basketball player standards. If players disliked her, I'm willing to bet it was because of her behavior rather than her sexuality and appearance.

Nothing special by basketball player standards? So basketball players are generally regarded as more attractive than non basketball players? I learn something new every day

About the business side of the WNBA? Definitely. And it's no surprise to anyone that there are a lot of lesbians in the WNBA. But if you are repeatedly called a ***** by a bunch of different people, chances are you're probably a *****... not that they're jealous because she's so pretty and so good. She was at most an OK player who was borderline "WNBA pretty". Sounds like she's just bitter that she never lived up to her hype and got displaced by girls that were better players and more attractive.

What does WNBA pretty mean? And where do they rank on a list of other professions? How would they compare for instance to...........women who sell jewelry at Macy's or JC Penney?

Simple, it means she's pretty in comparison to the other players, but wouldn't be regarded as such if compared to models or Miss Universe contestants.

I would say WNBA players rate below Macy's jewelry salespeople in general, but probably higher than JC Penney.

Ouch! If any JC Penney saleswomen are reading this please note that I would rate you equal to Macy's saleswomen. So on the first page you said she wasn't attractive - then you said she was borderline WNBA pretty - and in this quoted post you say she is pretty compared to other WNBA players. If this thread goes on much longer she will be pretty enough to sell jewelry at Macy's and possibly even be a model. I'm doubtful about Miss Universe

Yes, I don't find Candice attractive and find her borderline WNBA pretty. You asked for a definition of WNBA pretty and I gave it - a player that is pretty in comparison to the other WNBA players. I still consider Candice borderline. IMO, there's plenty of players who are much more attractive than her.

Skylar, Candace Parker, Penny Taylor, Erin Phillips, Swin Cash, Natalie Achonwa, Isabelle Harrison, Kiah Stokes... off the top of my head. Sue Bird is my personal cut off point.

I was and still am a fan of Candice Wiggins game. During her college career that is.

I'm sorry she had to endure what she thought was a slight to her person from her peers in the WNBA. She didn't flourish like I thought she would. I always thought she should had never been on the Lynx team. Wasn't a good fit for her in the long term. She did have success there as a role player.

It all makes sense now on possibly why her game took a turn for the worse. She had issues.

Come to think about Stanford -
My top 5 favorite players are:
1. Nicole Powell - Her team's battles with Shyra Ely Lady Vols squad were some of the best games I can remember.

2. Kate Starbird - I will never forget how impressed I was with this girls game. Her desire to win was inspirational. I was so sad for her win she lost in the Final Four. It was supposed to be her year to win it all.

3. Candice Wiggins - I think she's cute with a cute game. Always liked that she played like a girly-girl.

4. Nneke Ogumike - True grit. If not for UConn she coulda, shoulda, and woulda, had won a National Championship.

5. Jennifer Azzi - While living in the Bay Area I knew of Azzi. First time watching Stanford on t.v. was their National Title win and Azzi was the star. She was a quiet assassin with her game. Very fluid, smooth like when she shot the bball.

And lastly back to Wiggins. She needs to sale her book so I imagine she had to write something salacious. One thing is for sure she made the headlines.

Kate Starbird - my first true recollection of "basketball pretty"

Funny that I remember her looking like a tom-boy. I guess a pretty tom-boy. She was good on the eyes but it was definitely her game that attracted me to her.

She had that girl next door quality... later perfected by Becky Hammon and Sue Bird.

Got it. Good call.

I'll include our very own Alicia Manning. She definitely fits the bill. :good!:

Now Alicia has a beautiful girl friend...they are a gorgeous couple. Glory Johnson's new flame is very handsome himself, also another beautiful couple.

Thank you! Glory has that girl next door look about her, also. She's pretty amazing.
