WNBA - Candice Wiggins interview AKA " Bitter, Party of One"

Amid backlash, Wiggins stands by controversial WNBA comments - The San Diego Union-Tribune

A very thoughtful, on-point response from Imani Boyette:

“I was sad because that was your reality,” Boyette wrote. “I’m sorry you were bullied and felt that way during your career. Bullying is serious and no one deserves it. I hope you know that says more about the people who chose to mistreat you than you yourself.”

Boyette continued, “Your article hurt me Candice, both as a fellow WNBA player and as a little girl who looked up to you. You chose to typecast an entire league instead of speaking your peace, telling your truth. You chose to put all of us down, fans included. How can you turn your back on the entity that gave you your career, your upcoming book, and your worldwide acclaim? I think that’s selfish.”

Boyette concluded, “I have never experienced the bullying you spoke about, and I hope no one else ever does. Thank you for telling your truth.”

Also loved this from Monique Currie:

Currie also said, “Wiggins needs to check her privilege at the door, and not group her very unfortunate personal experiences on an entire group of women.”

I'm guessing Miss Wiggins didn't have many friends in the WNBA. This whole interview reeks of bitterness and a slightly elevated sense of her physical attraction.

It's funny to me when athletes tries to make allegation after they know that they don't have any thing left in the tank. She's already ran out of time meaning that she doesn't have any more skill left. Not making cash in overseas as well as WNBA, now u want to talk about Gay in WNBA. I played sports in College and there's Gay every where that's not new in sports. Just like the North Carolina player who got cut from NBA then remember to make allegation by the School. Even if it's true, she played for a whole 9yrs.

trying to sell her book

I'm guessing that, too. I think the truth is somewhere in between. She probably got some snide remarks from gay players, but it wasn't systemic. She was probably called a b!tch by a bunch of players because she was probably a b!tch, and was probably upset about chasing dollars outside of the US and wishing that WNBA players got paid NBA salaries.

Who would give her a book deal? It wouldn't sell 100 copies outside of friends and family unless it was a sleazy "tell-all" about the hedonistic world of the WNBA. Then it would sell maybe 500 copies...

Like a true so-called feminist

Exposed.

As someone who can't distinguish between feminism and lesbianism and who does not even understand what feminism actually is but feels compelled to condemn it anyway.

To help you out bug eye:

Feminism - the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.

FYI, Pat Summitt was a feminist. If you have a daughter and if you hope that she will be able to pursue her dreams without facing arbitrary barriers and discriminatory biases, you should be a feminist too.

If you think women should play full court basketball, rather than old half-court - offensive players vs. defensive players game-- you know that is kind of a feminist thing as well.

Lesbianism - Sexual orientation of women to women.

Now my next point will certainly make your eyes bug ; you can be a feminist and not be a lesbian. Mind blown right? Google on it.

Go LVs beat Florida!

Nothing special by basketball player standards? So basketball players are generally regarded as more attractive than non basketball players? I learn something new every day

Yes. Basketball player standards or any standards. Are you saying basketball players are less attractive?
