Anyone know where I could watch today's Unrivaled games? I'm dying to see them but I'm guessing I won't be able to without having to pay for a subscription to something.

While I'm talking about Unrivaled, I'd just like to heap praise on Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Colliers (and whomever else was involved) for getting this whole thing up and running. I think it could really take off and become wildly popular. The one-on-one thing is like watching gladiators. It's fantastic.

And one man, Alex Bazzell, Phee's hubby. Pretty sure his big time NBA connections really helped them get a ton of sponsorships that allowed them to do everything right. He's one of the most respected trainers in the NBA. He's the prez of the league.

They've all done a great job and I've enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. One big outcome is that the older players, including several Olympians, who showed up out of shape and not much gaf are being badly called out and shown up by several hungry younguns

Those players who showed up cold must have assumed they were so good they'd sail past some of the younger ones. I guess they won't make THAT mistake in the future. That is, IF they ever put themselves in that competition again. Some of the players may worry about the optics if they were to try it next year and get spanked again. 😳

The young player who impressed me the most was our girl Rae. Even though she was obviously nervous, she surprised everyone, I suspect, by making such a strong showing as what I consider one of the league's (kinda newly) solid, but not star, players. Rickea held her own, too, but that she did was somewhat less surprising.

Rae went for it, and I was so happy for her. She got exposed alright: As a baller!

P.S. I think the existence of Unrivaled will improve the WNBA, and vice-versa. After this inaugural season everyone is going to be more aware -- some painfully so -- of exactly what it takes to be ready for, and succeed in, that type of fast-paced competition. I can't see how it couldn't strengthen players all around to participate in that.

Yes and no. Cleveland put in a 250M bid which was double the price to join. The WNBA is apparently adding 2 more teams as well.

Cleveland has a 90% chance to be awarded the WNBA's 16th franchise, starting in 2028, and be named the Cleveland Rockers with a bid of about $250M. The WNBA may add two more franchises, as well, to get to 18 total.

Just saw a report on the ratings for unrivaled. They have been consistently strong and exceedingl expectations and that is without their biggest draw participating. I thought these games might get lost in the flood of college games but they have managed to draw and hold an audience. Great step forward for the women’s game!

If you notice they just don’t push and promote one player, it’s all spread out That’s a recipe for success long term.
