WNBA walk out during national anthem

Did you really watch it to begin with?

Anyways, why are you people still so fixated on something that goes on before a kids' game when your country is burning down, your economy is spiraling down the toilet and your rights and liberties are being eroded away? You would think that a silly azz flag or song before a game would be the least of your concerns right now.
It’s definitely disrespectful but I agree that I don’t care enough about any of these people to be mad about it. Plus, it’s their right to do what they want and if the league decided to fire them all that would be the league’s right. That won’t happen of course. The fans of the the WNBA who do care about the league now get to decide if it mattered to them. Ain’t freedom great!?

Good for them. Why is it mandatory to play the anthem at sporting events anyway?
These leagues need to figure that out ASAP or else they’re going to alienate a significant chunk of their fans no matter what they do. If the players don’t kneel or do something it pisses one group off and if they do it pisses another group off. Don’t play the anthem before the game starts. It’s that simple. There aren’t any fans attending events right now anyway. It’s the perfect time to make the change.

I think I saw somebody allude to this earlier, but again . . . Turns out this whole thing has been sensationalized. They walked out after warmups . . . not during the anthem. A conscious decision was made to go to the locker room rather than have a spectacle on the floor during the anthem.

It was ESPN’s fault that it was sensationalized because it portrayed the players walking out as the Anthem was being played. I don’t really agree with the kneeling, but I see it as player’s right to do so, if the situation had occurred as portrayed in the tweet I would’ve been pissed. I’m glad that was clarified because despite what some had defended in this thread, walking out on the National Anthem would’ve been massively disrespectful IMO.

It was definitely ESPN's fault. I'm not a fan of any type of protest during the national anthem, but this is pretty much the least offensive thing that can be done. There are sports where the players aren't on the field during the anthem anyway.

As Its Popularity Wanes the Subsidized WNBA Now Walks Out On the National Anthem

They claim to be opposing oppression but they operate from the purest position of privilege.

As we have been speculating for some time our sports landscape is growing into an intolerable cavalcade of activism, and that is now seeping down to even the unwatchable sports. We have it on good authority that the Women’s National Basketball Association is still an ongoing enterprise, all evidence to the contrary being recognized, but it appears they are striving to become even less consequential.

We have sent millions to fight and many of those died to fight evil. So yes, we've fought evil.

But my guess is you're one of the confused that believes BLM is a good organization.
You stretch like Mr. Fantastic. No one was talking about BLM. We were discussing the WNBA. Try to keep up.

I've never seen a WNBA game on TV, are they actually televised? Of course I haven't seen an NBA game on TV either in the last 10 years or so. Last time I came across one they were banished to TNT or some other middle of the road cable network.
Face it the professional sports teams are cutting their own throats by playing politics. People that have been supporting them are getting really tired of it and if they want to keep giving the middle finger to the men and women that get up every day and defend this country and make the goods that we need they will pay the price.

Oh, you must have missed where I said our sports leagues are exhibiting weak and ignorant behavior, in this thread. And that is related directly to BLM.

So I am not stretching anything you just failed to follow along.

I saw this as well. Wasn't ESPN the one who broke the story?

I think so - which is really surprising. Listening to the announcers, it sounded like they had been informed what was going to happen beforehand. Plus, you could look at the video and see people moving around on the floor that would have never been happening if the anthem was playing. Somebody at ESPN really blew it.

Mayne they didnt blow it. Attention is usually the desire in that business. Aka, there is no bad press.
