It’s definitely disrespectful but I agree that I don’t care enough about any of these people to be mad about it. Plus, it’s their right to do what they want and if the league decided to fire them all that would be the league’s right. That won’t happen of course. The fans of the the WNBA who do care about the league now get to decide if it mattered to them. Ain’t freedom great!?Did you really watch it to begin with?
Anyways, why are you people still so fixated on something that goes on before a kids' game when your country is burning down, your economy is spiraling down the toilet and your rights and liberties are being eroded away? You would think that a silly azz flag or song before a game would be the least of your concerns right now.
These leagues need to figure that out ASAP or else they’re going to alienate a significant chunk of their fans no matter what they do. If the players don’t kneel or do something it pisses one group off and if they do it pisses another group off. Don’t play the anthem before the game starts. It’s that simple. There aren’t any fans attending events right now anyway. It’s the perfect time to make the change.Good for them. Why is it mandatory to play the anthem at sporting events anyway?
It was ESPN’s fault that it was sensationalized because it portrayed the players walking out as the Anthem was being played. I don’t really agree with the kneeling, but I see it as player’s right to do so, if the situation had occurred as portrayed in the tweet I would’ve been pissed. I’m glad that was clarified because despite what some had defended in this thread, walking out on the National Anthem would’ve been massively disrespectful IMO.Turns out this whole thing has been sensationalized.
It was definitely ESPN's fault. I'm not a fan of any type of protest during the national anthem, but this is pretty much the least offensive thing that can be done. You stretch like Mr. Fantastic. No one was talking about BLM. We were discussing the WNBA. Try to keep up.
I saw this as well. Wasn't ESPN the one who broke the story?I think I saw somebody allude to this earlier, but again . . . Turns out this whole thing has been sensationalized. They walked out after warmups . . . not during the anthem. A conscious decision was made to go to the locker room rather than have a spectacle on the floor during the anthem.
I think so - which is really surprising. Listening to the announcers, it sounded like they had been informed what was going to happen beforehand. Plus, you could look at the video and see people moving around on the floor that would have never been happening if the anthem was playing. Somebody at ESPN really blew it.I saw this as well.
