Speaking of bats, Vandy is no longer in the top 25 and Ole Miss is hanging on to that 25th spot. We crushed their souls. lol

Have never done it since Kirby has been there. Using wood bats and wearing throw back jerseys. I don't know what those might be but knowing TV it could be anything. Astros? Black pinstripes? If it was me I would have a special jersey made and give to the players so that they could sell them or keep them. But I'm just that way. Pretty costly game when you are having to buy wood bats but maybe Smokies are providing since they are getting gate money. It should definitely help us with our pitching and I don't think it will hurt us as much as them hitting.

Just curious, will the wood bat game count as a regular game or like a exhibition game??

Regular game. There is actually a section in NCAA rule book for use of wood bats. They are legal in any game as long as they fall in the rules correctly. I know a kid who used one all senior year in HS. Wanted to prove a point, it didn't work out so well for him but he wanted to prove a point.

I love it. Personally, I'd like to see college baseball transition to using wood bats full-time, but I understand why they don't. It's very expensive. Baseball just feels more pure when the bats are wooden.

The sound of a nice hit with a wooden bat is wonderful isn't it? The echo seems to last longer as well.

Those guys play summer ball, which is only wood bats. They aren’t strangers to wood, but there’s a transition from college season to summer ball.

I thought they were the throwback 1951 flannels that they sell in the VolShop, since the 1951 team was the first to make the CWS and was runners-up. Could be wrong.

Agree with your question. Why use wooden bats when that is not what they play with. Bring the outfielders in. The only positive is that beautiful sound off a wooden bat. Oh yeah, dontforget to bring extra bats because you will see a few broken.

Was in the stands at Camden Yards one day sitting near home plate at club level when Machado hit a 465 footer into the left field upper deck. That was a sound I'll never forget. Like a huge lightning crack coming off that wooden bat. The very instant it was hit the sound told you it was long gone. It is a music, indeed. (And that one isn't even in the top five all time in that ballpark)
