Workers are applying for jobs left and right, but hearing nothing back

After reading through this thread I’m going to go ahead and blame the educational system for not teaching basic fundamental economics and math over the last couple of decades.

Pay increases > costs of doing business/cost of goods increases > higher pricing gets passed to the consumer. Smaller businesses can’t absorb those increases and larger businesses won’t due to set profit margins.

Yay, your pay increased but your percentage of cost of living expenses increased as well so you basically gained not a damn thing unless you’ve learned to live well within your means. 🤦‍♀️

We’re in for an interesting economic ride as those choosing to currently stay out of the workforce come face to face with those massive consumer price increases that are getting bumped not only by the higher wages but the increases in other business costs getting rolled in.

OK, and in the meantime, the duties associated with these vacancies will need to be done. Who does them? And at what cost?
Companies will fill them from within. At the cost of short term staff loss, and long term salary and price stability.
End the government assistance programs and within 6 months people will begin flocking to those jobs.

In certain situations, you are likely right. They will be filled internally. They'll place more responsibilities on a current employee or group of employees.

This thread is hilarious. Guys advocating for higher wages for applicants who commit to show up for an interview and dont. Effin gold

I'd love to hear the theories on pricing of TVs. If a TV is meant to display an image and does so, then should all sizes and display resolutions and types cost the same?

Defiance is extremely important to both personal and societal development. Norms are created not only through consensus but by pushing the boundaries to see where the breaking point is.
I'm still curious as to what you meant by this. What breaking points are you talking about?

I feel bad for those on fixed income (retired folks).

Same could be said for all of those buffoons wanting more taxes on corporations. Taxes on corporations is seen as just another expense to them, which gets passed on to the customer, meaning taxes on corporations are really taxes on you.

Switch it all up to consumption tax. Make it easier and up front.

It would change a lot of people's perspectives, that is for sure. I like the idea of what is done on our phone bills. They show you the taxes you are paying.

I'm all for lower taxes on corporations. The less taxes they have to pay then that means there is more available to pay their workforce.

Those charts that show the real average tax burdens pay are great. They factor in all the different taxes the average person in each state has to pay and show how much of each $1 they earn goes to taxes. I'll dig one of those charts up.

Most people growing up in today's society want no part of coal mining, or steel working, or countless other hazardous careers. I can't say that I blame them but it will continue to get worse
I am not sure there was ever a generation that WANTED coal mining. FWIW. For my dad and grandfathers growing up in East Tennessee, there just weren’t a whole lot of other opportunities

Must be nice.

Side effect will be even less workers paying into social security now meaning an even earlier depletion of the available funds. Don’t worry though, I am sure Joe and Kamala can fix it by just speeding up the printing presses 😉

I'm not going to work full time, I'll hand it off at some point but I can't imagine not working in some capacity. What would I do all day?

Man I get this. In some capacity I think I will always work, maybe in more of a hobby fashion to some degree. But when all is said and done, I’ve come to the realization I enjoy working.
