Workers are applying for jobs left and right, but hearing nothing back

Tell you what, next time I or someone I know has a breakthrough case let's get together for a couple of drinks unmasked and test that natural immunity.

I'm sure that you'll say yes but never seem to be available.

I will say yes. I can usually be available with a hours notice most days, some might take two. Your point to prove so y’all get to come me.

Besides the drinks, that just sounds like a normal day to me. I never know who is next to me and if they’re contagious with anything when I’m out and about since y’all haven’t started marking folks with yellow stars yet.

Does that apply to the right of a woman to choose whether or not she has a child?

You people are so inconsistent in your logic.
Nope. But her choice shouldn’t be funded with money originating from people whom don’t agree with those choices. Thus the federal stance should be neutral on imposing a view and funding.

Here's the classic "not knowing how the government works" post. I'm not sure you understand it, but the military is still working under Trump funding and planning. Biden's first budget hasn't been passed yet. The military is a huge bureaucracy and it doesn't turn on a dime. Even the Afghanistan withdrawal agreement was negotiated by Pompeo last year with a hard deadline of August 30.

As far as how the military works, I believe I understand it better than you. I've even served as a watch officer at the Navy Command Center in the Pentagon.

Are you suggesting that President Biden couldn't change the withdrawal deadline imposed by Trump? I have never claimed it wasn't a huge bureaucracy and wastes billions of dollars each year. I also understand that Biden has only been in office since January. These aren't new revelations to me or anyone who has a basic understanding of the government

I believe an extension would have carried serious risks of additional deaths. The Taliban were saying that they would begin attacking American troops if we were still there (the bombing at the airport game was Isis who is actually an adversary of the Taliban). In subsequent testimony the four star CinC said he believed it would have required substantial casualties to stay beyond the negotiated deadline.

It wouldn't matter if every member of the Joint Chiefs, the SecDef, and all of the in-the-field officers agreed and put it in writing. The BDS would still be in full force.

So you would say that each taxpayer should have the right to veto the use of his taxes for those activities he/she doesn't support?

Just setting aside the impossibility of doing that in a country of 350 million people, I think you would find that some causes you approve of might not get funded.

No but nice try. Well not not even a nice try. I was pointing out the federal stance should be neutral on positions that are not national issues. Federal military is a national issue for common defense. Planned Parenthood belongs within state purview and only state purview and should come from state budgets.

Not every damn hot topic button requires a federal response and we need to get back to letting states administer the majority of their citizens needs and pay for them accordingly

Personal anecdote: Not necessarily looking but I've applied to 7 open positions similar to my current one and only one didn't respond. That one was a bit of a reach anyways.

Favorable as in offers or too early at this point and just moving to the next step in the interview process? Good luck on the job search and change.

ISIS isn’t an enemy of the Taliban, that is complete nonsense, no more than al Qaeda is an enemy of ISIS. Do they have different agendas? Yes, ISIS isn’t attacking the government of Afghanistan. The reason ISIS bombed the airport is because they were allowed to by the Taliban. So, we couldn’t extend or change the deadline because the Taliban threatened the US military? I am glad our 4 star commander wasn’t in charge during WW2 or any other war for that matter

Nah I actually got promoted a couple weeks ago but these were just in case that didn't go thru. Plus it was a salary finding mission and to keep my boss honest. Most were ok jobs but no one wants to pay for my skills. I was only tempted by one since their company is so unique and intriguing but it's a startup, a decent pay cut and I'm old. It would have taken something like that to get me going though

If they would just list salary in the job listing it would save us all some time. Many do and I know to skip right by. But I found getting a response wasnt difficult as long as you're qualified

Chose to have sex, chose not to use protection, her or him, chose to have sex in a way that leads to pregnancy. Chose not to use plan B. Chose to be with a partner who wasnt fixed. Didnt chose to get fixed herself. There are probably a number of other choices she made that I am not thinking of.

She made her choice, she just doesnt like the consquences. And no you dont just get to kill someone else because you made dumb choices.

Not impossible at all. Just because you cant handle the concept doesnt mean it's impossible.

Representational taxation. Or put another way you might understand Go Fund Me for each government branch. If you dont care or specify your taxes go into the general fund to be wasted where the government wants. You pay the same amount, you just determine where it goes. Congress still gets to decide how the money is spent, but the bucket they get to pull from is defined by the populace.

We would find out real quick what the parts of the government actually matter. But it wont happen because that would actually empower the people and not the parties.

Most people growing up in today's society want no part of coal mining, or steel working, or countless other hazardous careers. I can't say that I blame them but it will continue to get worse

Get rid of the leftist safety nets. Hunger cures a lot of unemployment issues.

Also, what is the value of an executive corps that nobody wants to work for? Job satisfaction, reward for a job well done, and pride in craftsmanship are apparently things of the past. As a retired engineer, I can say I loved the work and detested the working environment. The issue is management style - not perks to make up for shortcomings. I can't even figure out what sparks work ethic in the newer generations; it's like education has bred any individualism and spirit to achieve out.

Why everybody’s hiring but nobody’s getting hired

Sure there are jobs a plenty open all over the place, but many of the people applying for them are either hearing nothing back or are being offered much less than the job listings promised.
Fixing to be a hell of a lot more openings if they go thru with the mandatory vaccination rule Dec. ! . Production issues are already starting to produce issues in the economy. If they follow thru, it could very well be the tipping point.

I don’t really detest the working environment. Not when we’re in design and integration mode. I absolutely detest dealing with all the dumbass executives that think they know how to execute our product lines after getting hired in from some other obscure part of the company or from other company in the industry or military retiree. When we can get those idiots to just stay the hell out of the way and keep quiet the environment is actually quite good

I've had this talk with my college students and had them provide some interesting answers. I've applied some of them with my current program and it's growing like a weed right now:

  • They want to be treated with respect. They hate being pandered to and can see through fakeness easily.
  • They want the real expectations up front. Bait and switch turns them off and runs them off.
  • They want to feel necessary, not irreplaceable. This goes back to the insincerity in the first point. They want to feel like they are making a worthwhile contribution but not have smoke blown up their asses about how important are.
  • They want to see a real future for themselves. This generation does not want to spin their wheels and sweat and toil for someone else to get all the glory all the time. They want to see a clear and distinct path forward, even if it requires hard work and long hours.

That's pretty much what anyone should want. The one thing that I really struggled with though as an engineer was what "progress" really meant. So often jobs like engineering reach a terminal point - you can say this or that needs to be done, but you are without the authority to make it happen. The trap is to gravitate toward management. I found that a miserable compromise - going from what you liked and did well to something where you just became part of the unsatisfying bureaucracy that you disliked, and worse, you found you still can't change it by being a part of it.
