Worley post-game quote..

If the pic 6 was a TD instead it would have been 27-17 with about 10 min to go in the 4th if I recall. It just goes to show you when your defense is showing up and keeping you in games like they were, you can put together a few big plays and be right there in it. With decent pass blocking, I honestly believe we could have won the game. I thought it was going to be a blowout and I was wrong, the score was not indicative of how close it was at one point in the game.

Helm was breaking open on that play for a TD. I don't want to blame Worley at all for how gutty he was throughout that game, but he is right in what he said. A TD there changes everything, and they were thisclose to having it. He just forced it in.

There is a lot of enthusiasm for a team that scored 10 points, all of which came from Oklahoma mistakes (penalty on the TD drive, fumbled punt for the FG). I like ya'lls hopefulness, but we are a helluva lot further away than some seem to think imo.

I agree with a lot that has been said in this thread. OU got lucky, UT was in that game and we let them off the hook.

I wouldn't call it luck. They made the plays. But, I do agree that the score was not completely indicative of the the difference in the teams.

While I can't say that there was a time that I thought we were going to win, there were certainly a lot of times where I considered the possibility that we could win. Until that pic-6, it was a ball game.

We matched their intensity and aggressiveness. We matched their talent at the skill positions. We had the speed to compete with them, and we played as a well coached team. There were FAR more positives from that game than negatives.

I'm sorry but we lost by 24 points. You can't pick and choose plays and say we were right there. The results of each and every play effects how the game is played. Our offense was horrible last night and gave us zero chance to win the game. I would rather our QB state the obvious. We sucked and let our defense down. I didn't expect us to win at Oklahoma and with two true Freshman starting on the O-line the result was about as expected but lets not pretend it was closer then it was because it really wasn't. On a side note I would much rather see the beast package with AJ on 3 and 2 from the 4 yard line then Worley forcing throws into the end zone. Dooley at least got something right and why CBJ refuses to consider this as a option is puzzling.

I see you are a little slow. Did you even watch the game? Or are you just making your idiotic comment based on the scoreboard. This UT team played a good team, and basically held its own. They did not get run off the field like most expected. OU had to earn everything they got...mostly.

apparently you didn't watch the game...you just scoreboard watch? It would be useful if you would educate yourself about football and then watch a complete game, so that you would understand why everyone feels better about Team 118.

I did watch the entire game, thanks, as I have virtually every UT game for the last 30 years. It would be useful if idiot fans like you could actually discuss the game instead of attacking anyone with a different opinion.

The game is over.

They won, we lost. How it happened doesn't really matter now as long as the team takes something away from it.

On to Georgia.

And if Croom had caught his pass in the endzone or at least deflected it more, it could have been closer to 27-24. And if the replay official had not determined that the RBs knee was down . . . .

That quote shows a lot of leadership by Worley. Georgia does not have a fierce defense, so I think UT's chances are good against them. Regarding Florida, their young safeties were exposed v Kentucky, but their front seven is stout, especially Fowler. I'm interested to see how that UF-Bama game goes next weekend.

I'll tell you how Florida/Ala will turn out. Alabama will beat the stew out of them.

So you have 30 years of Vol Football, but you don't see anything about this team to be excited about? Either you are lying, or you are visually impaired, or you just don't know football. If Worley didn't look better to you. If the defense didn't look better to you. I really don't know what to tell you.

What was the final score again? I'm not discouraged by the game and still feel we are on the right track but what good does it do to play the if's and buts game?

It reinforces to a young team that crucial mistakes cost them a chance to shock the world. Three plays in that game caused a 28-point swing. I don't believe in moral victories, but I do believe in lessons learned the hard way.

And if that first pick in the other endzone had turned into our points instead of their ball, even closer than you quote. I agree, this game was much closer than the final score. I was there, and our kids played their hearts out and pretty much went toe to toe with OU, especially in the 2nd half. They are the best team we play this year.

“Everybody’s gotta understand how close we were,” Worley said. “I truly believe we were right there in that football game throughout. These young guys gotta understand there’s going to be ups and downs. ... It’s how you bounce from the downs that’s going to be a testament for the hard work we put in.”

Beat Georgia, Justin and I will believe you. Beat the Gators and I will wipe last night's game from my memory forever.

I'm just proud he could manage a complete sentence after the beating he took. Very proud of his grit and the team's effort. Just need to work like heck to turn that effort into a couple of Ws no one expects.

Look at the bright side, we could be GA fans.

I'm surprised his post games comments weren't along the lines of:

"Marlboro Texas wicked dog fruit loop driving air mustard math nuclear bimbo farmer...my hurt heads!"

If anyone doubted his toughness and leadership before the game, I doubt anyone did afterward. To go along with the above comment, ABC showed him on the sideline right after his head bounced off the turf, and he honestly didn't look like he knew whether he walked to the stadium or brought his lunch. But a few minutes later, he threw a dime that unfortunately went through Croom's hands and into Sanchez's. Worley's got nothing left to prove to me...follow this leader.

Just remember that OK had outscore their opponents 40-0, I know how weak the other teams are...but 13-0 1st half against UT

This thread reminds me of how little people know about football. OL is the most important part of the team. Without a good OL you have almost nothing on Offense.

Worley is not what the best quarterback in the country, but he sure damn epitomizes what a being a Tennessee Volunteer is all about.
